Optimus V super battery life with newest green power

(FYI 3G uses less battery power than wifi in standby mode, contrary to popular belief. It's been shown that standby + 3G draws almost the same amp/hours when compared with putting the phone in airplane mode.)

Interesting. What about when phone has trouble connecting so keeps polling for a signal?

Try turning power off. Turn power on. On reboot turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds. Then turn airplane mode off. This should help the Time Without Signal drain on the battery which has been fixed on the Harmonia 1.3 Rom, Bumblebee 2.4, and all the CM7 ports

I sent an email to the dev of Green Power yesterday about the idea of giving us a way to backup our settings once we get them where we want them. He said that was a great idea and noone had suggested that yet.

There is a setting under wifi settings that will force it to ignore weak wifi signals causing the exact problem you describe. It can be found at Settings-Advanced Wifi settings- then check the box that says Low Signal Check and then you can set the signal strength below it of 20%, 40% or 60%

Apparently I drive by alot of strong signals and that doesn't help, even when I set it to 20% =[. Anyway to ignore all but the familiar wifi.

The ROM I have has 4 widgets in the top of the pull pulldown, one of which is WiFi(makes it easier to get to). Since using Green Power Free I have now been 23 hours 21 minutes off charger. 6 hours in airplane mode(I got to sleep sometime),and just left it set to the default to start. 71% battery still left. when ever I have needed to use the WiFi(green power turns it off) I just flicked the pull down and toggled it on real quick like. My point is if I have 23 hours 21 minutes off charger, and still have 71% battery, and green power is turning the WiFi off when not in use by me,then maybe Poizan has a very strong case in there favor.

Thanks bro, I have no vested interest in the success or failure of Green Power financially, I just thought it was a really great app for making the OV an even better phone!

Two questions. Today I tried to use the google navigation. It wouldn't work because Green Power would not let both WiFi and GPS be on at the same time. How do I go about fixing this problem. I'm directionally challenged and NEED the assistance of google navigation quite often. I also like what Green Power is doing. Is there some thing I need to do in the settings?

I tried it for roughly two weeks at it's default settings. I saw no difference in battery life compared to using airplane mode, muted sound, and screen brightness all the way down when I went to bed at night.

I can get the same results using built in features on my phone than I can with a battery saver app.

Yeah, but this app is making you have the same battery life without having to go through the setting and do all that stuff all the time.

One issue I'm having is that it likes to connect to the wifi at my work, which requires you to accept the terms before using it, and I'd rather use 3g. I have to manually toggle it every time.

Is there any way to block out unwanted wifi signals?

Personally I just use the notification power settings in the Backside rom to turn on or off wifi or 3g when I need them. I don't see the point of installing another app to do what I can control with a simple flick of the notification window. I tried out the app and didn't get any improvement over the way I manage my data manually. I guess I just prefer to control it myself rather than leave it to an app.

I discovered this very small app that does what I need:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.monocube.powerschedule&feature=search_result

Since I need data on for VOIP, this works well for my work/home scenario.

I also use Widgetsoid2 on my home screen, can customize color, background, 1-10 in one row.

I don't have to go through the settings and tap a bunch of menus to do any that. I use a paid app called Extended Controls that sits as a custom widget on one of my desktops. With a few taps before bedtime I'm all set. :p

I just kinda like being able to unlock my phone and the data is on, and then it turns off when locked.

It sounds like all of you are trying to manually toggle data in as few clicks as possible, which is awesome, I just want to do it in zero clicks. As it sits right now I use quick settings to toggle wifi and 3g on off if the app turns one on I don't like...
