OTA 2.1 Has started..

Oh and I know some people had mentioned way back in the thread about Helix Launcher having errors in 2.1, so far it's fine on mine. I've got the Droid live wallpaper running now also. Fa-reakin finally.

Here's a screenshot of my about screen with the update.

It's running fine for me as well with Helix. I kind of like the grass live wallpaper. It looks good with Beautiful Widgets naked skin with the moon showing on the star filled sky.

The zoom is working smoothly for me in the browser, I recall someone said it was jumpy for them. It's also nice that scrolling is smooth as can be in the browser again. :)

The camera seems to work a bit faster. In the gallery did they change the rendering engine? I can actually tell when photos are bad. Before I had to zoom in to tell but now I can tell with it scaled on the screen.

Thanks guys for getting this posted. :)

Seeing as the download link posted is the actual link to the file hosted on google's servers, may I ask how you managed to get that link? I thought you guys were just trying to pul the update.zip off of his phone.

anyone know of a better launcher than helix? i hate how i need to hit back to return to home instead of sliding down.

I think they just had to look through the phone's logs to trace back the address that it downloaded the file from.

I just did this and it works

Firmware version: 2.1 -update1
Baseband version: C_01.3E.03P
Kernal version: 2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788 android-build@apa26#1
Build number: ESE81

As a former rooter/ROMer (I was actually using the Fab's ROM, v0.9), I can confirm that this update is like ANY ESE53 based rom...except it has less features than any of the ESE53 roms.

However, those who have never rooted are really going to enjoy this update (particularly the MUCH improved browser and gallery).

Like I said in another thread, I probably will stay stock because flashing custom roms is way too addictive for me but there's nothing more exhilerating than rebooting into recovery and watching the status bar progress as your new update.zip or nandroid rom unpacks.

By the way, this comes with the Droid version of the Neural Network (bleh). However, I'm about to go grab the cyanogen version from the market (should work now that Droid is officially 2.1).

EDIT: I meant NexusMod version of the neural network...I tried it and it doesn't work. They need to retool it for the Droid version of 2.1

i will only root out of 2.1 if the zeusdroid team gets a fully functional no strings attatched sense ui rom out there in the next few months. now it feels like my phone is brand new and i have more love for it.

What is the Droid version? Just red lines?
