Root OTA installation error

Lurker
I have a rooted HTC EVO 4G. I just downloaded the new OTA Android v2.3.5 update, but it won't install. It gives me the following message:

Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply__patch_check("/system/app/AppSharing.apk", "3cfc38eE:unknown command [60aec8555224af8dd68e7465ff60ab6bd:,]

E:Error in /chache/OTA_Supersonic_5.07.651.1-4.67.651.3_releaseenwv9qc2u8su8r13u.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Any ideas as to why I'm getting this message, how to fix it, or if I should even bother with it? I've heard a lot of people have had problems with this OTA update. Help please!

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!
do not accept the OTA while you are rooted!!!!!!!!

it could brick your phone, it could unroot you depending on what OTA you are trying to install. just do not do it.

all you need to do is just flash a rom that has the latest ota and you will be updated. though i must say the latest one is not very important.

here is the stock but rooted rom:
[ROM][KERNEL] 5.07.651.1 Stock - Rooted - Latest Supersonic OTA - xda-developers

here is a rom based off of the latest ota:
[ROM] 5.07.651.1 SS_FirePower V3 / NoSense_Ultra {Major}{UPDATE} 6/19/2012 - xda-developers

do not accept the OTA while you are rooted!!!!!!!!

X1,000

Any root guide you followed when you rooted should have told you to never accept an OTA while rooted.

Some people read that statement and think "OK, I'll unroot and take teh OTA then re-root", but thats not correct thinking either.

You rooted for the purpose of taking control of your phone. With that being said, you can flash ANY version of android you please via recovery. Theres no need to accept an OTA.

OCN provided you with some great links.

Be glad you aren't in worse shape my friend. You could have a non-working phone.

Thanks for the heads up. Apparently I missed the warning of not installing an OTA. So I discarded the update. So thanks again!

this will also go for any new phones that is rooted. also anytime a new ota comes out it will always make it harder to root the phone in the future. rooting the og evo used to be very simple but with the latest ota is sooo much more difficult to do.
