Help OTA Sprint System Update

Hi Baby!!!! :D
Short answer- mom has Alzheimer's and I'm doing 15000000% of this alone.
You know fam- disappear when you need them the most.

I've been clicking all day "install update later" .... wanted to see if there was a root for it yet. I guess my phone got tired of me clicking later cause now I cant get it back and don't feel like stalking the internet to find it.

Glad to hear from you! You'll be blessed for taking care of your mom. That update notification will come back.... hopefully. :)

If anything, this update has somehow improved my battery life. All those times I kept on saying I couldn't get the phone back to extending past 24 hours...well, that's no longer true. I'm just about to hit 26 hours with my standard usage. Very happy about that.

Sweet.

This is my first post on any forum for this site. I purchased the note 2 last week and just this morning updated my phone to the most recent jelly bean version 4.1.2. Immediately after the update was completed I noticed a new unexpected change when I turned on my screen with both the power or home button, my phones history page automatically listed. Previously the only way I could access this history page was to hold down my home key, now it appears as soon as the screen lights up. Anyone else experiencing this new change w the update and if so anyway I can stop this from popping up every time I turn my phones screen on? Thanks

 Only way I get history from the lock screen is to hold down the power button (until it shows the power down options window) and then hold down the home button.

Other than that, if you tap either, they both still function the way that they did before without "history" (which, I'm assuming you're referring to the most recent apps used).

Yes it is the recent apps window that appears.I see it first thing after the screen times out and goes black and then press the home button to turn the screen back on, no home screen anymore. Odd, maybe it's just me it's happening to and there's a defect w my phone.

Nope. I purposely set my screen off time to 15 seconds, just to test this theory. When my phone just timed out naturally, automatically touched the home button...lock screen.

Are you using a lockscreen?

Sounds like your home button is sticking.

I think my home button is sticking, I've only been using it for 5 days so hopefully it will break in after more use. Thank you for your input and insight.

For those of you that were looking for a way to turn off the smart stay icon, they commented about it on the Sprint forums:

Sprint Community: 2/13 -* Samsung Galaxy Note II Software Update - L900VPAMA7

Looks like both smart stay and smart rotation have to be disabled in order for the eye to disappear.

I noticed that sometimes the smart stay icon flashes to white briefly before going back to grey. This makes me think that it's just an indicator & not constantly searching for eyes. I still don't like it there all the time but my guess is it doesn't have any effect on the battery.

I don't mind it, but I can see how people do.

Huh? Reordered? Rearranged?

Yup.

System Settings>Display>Notification Panel

Then, just hold and drag each icon to where you want them to be, in the order that they'll appear on the notification bar.

I re-arranged mine so that the ones I use most often show up on the 1st 5 and then scroll to get to the toggles that I use less often. I replaced the Multi-Window and Sync toggles (since I always keep those on anyway) with a couple others.

The ones I've decided to leave off the 10 toggle selection bar:
Mute / Sync / Multi-Window

Oh. You mean the toggles can be rearranged. I get it now. I thought you meant that somehow we could reerrange the notifications in the notifications bar.

LOL...yeah, my bad, ren. I should've been more clear that I meant the toggles, not the actual notifications.

I received the OTA update notification this morning. ...I did it over a wifi connection. It sure seemed to kill my battery. Unplugged at 5:45 am and I am at 6% now (7:03pm)
Hope it gets better tomorrow. Battery life was amazing before the update.

LOL. It's all good. You should have seen me trying to move my notifications though. I was thinking "it's not working!!!"

ren...LOL...I went back and re-read my statement. I totally would've been doing the same thing! Hahaha...sorry 'bout that. But I am really happy that Sprint didn't completely leave the option to change the toggles out. From what I remember some of the AT&T folks saying, they didn't get the ability to change the toggles w/ the 4.1.2 update.

Hmmm...maybe battery life isn't better like I initially thought. I swapped out batteries last night and am down to 4%, after very little use and only 17-18 hours. I'll have a better idea after I swap the battery out and see how it is by tomorrow morning.
