OTA update jan 8.

For some reason I received 2 OTA updates yesterday. Both updates went through smoothly. However, I ended up having problems with the weather and gps applications. I kept receiving the following error: "process com.htc.provider has stopped unexpectedly". I'm from Guam, but GPS was saying I was in Hawaii, thousands of miles away. I performed a factory reset, and now I'm having phone reactivation problems. Now I have to take it back to the service provider to reactivate my phone.

Are these updates given out regionally or by who bought it first, or numerically by phone number/area code or what? It can't just be arbitrary.

It can't be by phone# or region, I've heard of people who have two phones in the same household getting it on different days.

I'm thinking it is completely random. Or maybe it goes by other unique numbers like...MEID? IMSI?

I got mine the morning people first started reporting it and I bought my phone about a week or two ago.

Still haven't gotten mine in Ohio, what do you mean leave background data on?

Settings > Data synchronization > Google > Background Data

Check if Background Data is checked. If not, check it and reboot the phone. I got the update when I rebooted my phone.

Got it, mine was on, tried a couple different combinations of disable, reboot, enable, reboot, no love for me from Verizon. :(
