ota update rolling out now !!!!

I received the notification but did not want to proceed. As dont know what the update is for? Now when i check for software update it says none are available for my phone?

Will this come back to me?

HTC don't seem to be very good at telling customers what's in their updates.

However, the new Desire S OTA update, which is at the moment only available to stock HTC ROMs (not branded phones), includes the following:

An update to the Android operating system to version 2.3.5

An update to the Sense GUI to verion 3.0, which updates several apps and widgets and adds a few new ones.

A new radio (baseband) version for better phone and GPS signal, which could be crucial to people who've experienced signal problems. There are very positive reports regarding the new radio since it was leaked.

The prompt should come round again to your phone in a day or so.

It's early days. HTC usually start by gradually sending the OTA to stock ROMs, then after a couple of weeks or so the network carriers will start sending out their branded versions to their customers, representing the vast majority of Desire S users. If you're unsure about whether you should update or not, you may want to wait until then.

I have a Desire S bought sim free from cpw, however I've not received the OTA update yet, any ideas?

HTC sends OTA updates out gradually. It could be a few weeks before it gets round to your phone.

To ensure you're able to get the OTA whenever it becomes available to you, make sure you connect via WiFi and go to Menu > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Manual/Auto check.

My phone too is a sim free desire s from cpw, I am o2 sim plan but have not had any update notification yet, will i get the update or do you have to have a phone specifically from an operator? Cheers,

Something is very strange here.
Only very few owners received it during the weekend, and since then it doesn't look like that anybody new received it.
Also, no official statement from HTC, only few website quoting some guy in xda.

True. So far all we've had is word of mouth and a screen shot displaying the software version. Bearing in mind the "official" 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 update package has been knocking around for some time, nothing has been proved.

Guess we'll see how this pans out over the next week or so.

Official answer from HTC:

We expect to begin rolling out the Android 2.3.5 update for your phone very soon. Phones will receive updates countinuously , not at sigle day. We cannot be more specific yet as exact dates still need to be confirmed. You need to wait, you have done everything right.

That's strange, I got an email back stating nothing more than sit tight and wait and see, they stated they did not want to give incorrect infotmation and will update customers if and when, I guess is a waiting game now,

The first answer I got was that they didn't want to speculate on the information, but then I send them the screen shots from xda forum, and I told them it was from a friend of mine, so it was real and it was not speculation anymore.
Only then they confirmed.

The (stock?) Sense 3.0 and Gingerbread 2.3.5 update seems to be gathering pace in some parts of Europe.

And it looks like the original Sense 3.0/Gingerbread 2.3.5 update has already been updated, which might be why there's been a hiatus.

I recieved the OTA update at 10:00 in the uk all went well and phone is now Brilliant !!!! much faster, nothing lost during update all pages remained just the same as did data :D
Big thanks to HTC

Yep, me too, got a locked Vodafone Desire S, new 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0, working like a dream with fab new features, I'm super impressed too:)

Got the update last night and like the previous post mines is working like a dream, much faster and love the new features. Was a bit apprehensive in downloading at first after reading negative threads but really glad I got it.

:mad:Still no update for me yet, I have a sim free with an O2 simplicity simcard, Anyone on O2 got an update yet??

Me neither. Then again I'm currently on software version "1.28.401.1" not "1.47.401.4" which seems to be having more luck.

I'm also still on 1.28.401.1. Wonder why we didn't get notification for 1.47.401.4 at least? Even when I check for updates manually it says I am to date. Got the phone from CPW so it's unbranded, but on TMobile contract.

Mind you, given the problems people have had with the previous update (http://androidforums.com/htc-desire-s/401110-i-should-not-have-updated-fota-1-47-110-3-a.html it's probably no bad thing...;)

I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.3, Sense 2.1, software version 1.47.61.1, with no particular problems at all. No signal loss, battery life fine.

What differences are there with update?

Should I stick with adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - have heard some worrying stories about updates making phone worse, so I've always had it set manually to check.
