Help OTA Update rolling out. Version 2.17.651.5 - Sprint

Thanks.
I did that. Then I opened Market and it prompted me to accept agreement. Then I checked the version and it was the same as before I cleared data and cache: 3.4.4. I guess I got new Market when I installed update.

This is an old article, so the market has changed a little since this version. But if your market looks like the one in this article, it's the new one. If not, it has a link where you can upgrade.

Just as an update; I currently have 2 days and one hours on battery, with 54% percent left. Average daily use, so I'm pretty sure this update doubled my battery life, at least in my case. Amazing.

This is on the stock battery? Wow...My battery life has gotten better, but 2 days of use and only half the battery gone, thats crazy.

I still had the old white and green market on my phone. So with the update, I cleared data of the old market, and reopened it. It will still show the old market when you first open it, but push the home button so that the market stays open but is not visible and wait a few minutes and it will update on its own.

Hi, does anybody know if this update will be available also for non-Sprint phones? I have a unbranded GSM with 2.6.35.13.
Thx.

Not this update per se, and the good news is that with your phone you don't need it.

The primary thrust of this update has been removing Sprint spyware and changing some Sprint network access and radio updates. You're not on Sprint and don't use the same radio tech, so I'd say you're already ahead of the curve.

That said, they may yet release some incremental update for you GSM owners - or they may just jump to ICS next, no one here can really say, I don't think.

But the good news is that you're probably not missing anything here.

We're guessing that the battery life increase is due to stopping the extra Sprint Carrier IQ (carrier spyware) running incessantly in the background.

How's your battery life?

Thanks for this info. I was hoping to get a better battery performance... I can drain it easily in 6-7 hours or even less depending on the use :(

What is Client IQ?

It actually was called carrier IQ. It was a diagnostic program that had severe security loopholes. A dev named TrevE discovered it would log every keystroke you made, read SMS messages, and even record where you would browse the web. There was a big outcry about it (I was a part) and Sprint decided to remove it.

Has anyone had a chance to look at the Peep app, the update was supposedly suppose to make it more in line with current Twitter. Anyone notice any differences, I love Peep... because I really wouldn't want to waste space installing another twitter app and Peep works perfectly for my Twitter needs.

I just had my phone freeze on the task manager and restart itself after a minute of being frozen on it. Im on the new update btw. First time it has ever froze like that hmmm. I also noticed once or twice since the update that when entering the messaging window itll show only the first or second conversation threads and the rest of them will be blank untill i tap something to reload it and all will be good. I assume htc will work out the small bugs and eventually roll out another update
I'v been having a few sudden drop of network connection (meaning my phone just stop in the middle of doing doing anything on a website) thus causing a freeze and a restart of HTC sense. I actually did a reset of the device (thinking it might be an application causing conflict) to clear the entire system of any corruption. Unless, we notify HTC or Sprint on this matter - they will assume the update was a total success.

Anyone test this out yet?

go to the HTC support site and start up a message there. you can also search as there may be someone else posting about it. HTC do look on those forums directly.
