OTA updater question

From what I've been reading I assume mostly everyone has received this ota "pre patch" for 2.1 if that's really what it is, except for me?

I originally got the 2.0.1 by downloading it and doing the whole boot into recovery and run update.zip. I'm wondering if since I did that, did it disable the OTA update for me? I haven't received any messages for updates and am constantly checking for them on my phone. If this is the case how would I re enable them.

Hopefully it just hasn't been released to everyone yet and I'm just getting anxious for no reason. Thanks for any answers you have

:-)

Same boat here.... waiting... waiting.... waiting...

I went to phonearena.com and in the upcoming verizon phones was the nexus1, so I doubt we will get 2.1 before they release the N1. That wouldn't make business sense to release it before the actual phone comes out, but that is just my opinion.

Actually the phone is out if you buy it from Google, there just hasn't been a CDMA version released yet. Also the 2.1 SDK has been released so people are already building their applications for it.

this whole update thing has been rather interesting. I had problems with facebook and couldn't update notifications, which is supposed to be what the OTA fixes. I did not get the OTA, but facebook is now working fine for me. I wish moto/verizon would issue an official statement to clear up WTF happened.

An official statement would be nice yes!

My guess is that we will learn fairly shortly that this update was simply a precursor to the full 2.1 update (done to bring all Droid owners to the same patch level).

If Motorola/Verizon/Google are smart, they will release 2.1 for the Droid before Apple has their press conference on the 27th.

One thing to keep in mind is that the 2.1 update for the Droid will almost certainly be built from a newer patch level than the 2.1 included on the Nexus One. Which may mean that the Droid will be the first to have certain features and/or bug fixes.

There are even a few features that would be likely to put the Droid (and Android as a platform) back in the spotlight (official App2SD support would be one of them).

It's a 2.1 precursor. Someone who knows someone who knows someone says that their buddy knows this guy who's good friends with an employee ot the MacDonalds right next to the Starbucks where the brother-in-law of a tech at Verizon works, and he says...

I got the update, and now I have pinch zoom on Maps, quadraphonic audio output, and FM transission capability. I also downloaded the newest ATM app, and now it spits 100 dollar bills out the back where that gold screen is (...who knew?!)
-Gotta have that update, though.

Droid does...

Well, I didn't get the update, but was able to DL 112 flawlessly. Yeah, I know, that's been explained. But I gotta get my member posts up.

hahaha nice...

anywho...I did some snooping and decided to get online with a chat with a sales rep and pretended to be someone interested in the droid to ask when the droid is getting 2.1 since the N1 has it already...naturally the guy played dumb and asked if i was a current verizon customer...lol...he saw right through me. Just thought I would share this story...I know go ahead and flame me :)

I know I am pathetic...
