Yeah I guess I really took for granted how easily customizable WebOS was. There were a TON of good developers who really made that OS shine. I just wish that PALM would take some of those "patches" and add them to the OS. As far as android goes...I'm really looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about "Sense UI." I love how the widgets look and I bet they would look even sweeter on a 4.3" screen!

Howdy all - I'm another guilty Pre-owner looking to 'cheat' on my beloved Pre, with a hot new Evo! :-)

WELCOME!! Can't wait!! Feel free to share if you have any news leaks or inside info on the EVO...or if you find out if Adobe will actually release flash 10.1 on our Pre before the EVO gets released LOL

i stopped in a TMobile store (BTW - it was like the f*****g Star Wars bar in there) today to check out the HD2 since its form factor is similar to the EVO 4G. the 4.3" display is sweet. what really struck me was how flat and thin the device is. one thing i was not impressed with was browsing speed. it was SLOW. my guess is TMobile's shitty network?

Anyone ready to forget the Evo? Just started reading about Samsung's potential Galaxy S Pro, a potential slider version of the Galaxy S. Digging the specs, and the slightly smaller screen will mean it's a little more pocketable. I bet it'd be a bit thinner than the Moment too. And it retains the 4-way pad.

Galaxy S Specs:
4″ Super AMOLED Display
Cortex-A8 1Ghz processor
SGX540 GPU
5MP Camera
WiFi
Bluetooth
GPS
Android 2.1

You may drool now...

Though who's already thought about a folding BT keyboard to go with their kickstanded Evo? I know I have.

Not really looking forward to the samsung galaxy s pro.... Their skin is so ugly on their phone.

And I have a feeling that they will be slow to update the firmware like they are with the moment.

Moment wasn't slow at all. In fact it was updated in less time from it's intro than the Hero was, and the Hero had a huge glaring problem where you couldn't even send a text message without the messaging app becoming 100% active and draining the battery forcing you to a 3rd party app whether you wanted it or not. And 2.1 will most likely hit the Moment and Hero at the same time. Why would you assume Samsung is holding up the works considering Android on the Moment is mostly stock.

And there's nothing about TouchWiz being on there thankfully. That would just be horrid. The one they're showing on the Galaxy doesn't seem bad. Also out of the box is Think Free, a MS Office app for viewing AND editing. And the Daily Briefing widget seems like a light year ahead of the big weather/time widget on Sense.

I gotta admit...samsung displays are BEAUTIFUL. Hell just look at their HDTV lineup (by the way Sony and Samsung use the same displays in most of their HDTVs). I'm sure they carry the same standards of screen quality on their phones. I still have a samsung a900 (no longer used) that still has one of the clearest brightest and sharpest displays I've seen on a phone

I saw a video of the Galaxy S screen at CITA and I was NOT impressed by the amount of glare. I think I may be the only one who has NO interest in a Super AMOLED or AMOLED screen. EVO TFT all the way!

I'd just love to have a hard keyboard. I haven't had any issues with the AMOLED screen on the Moment. Don't even know if it's a reality yet, but to not have to go to an on screen keyboard would be key.

personally, im tired of physical keyboards. especially the portrait style on the pre. my fingers and just too big. having a landscape virtual keyboard for me is heaven.

It would be nice to have an accessory that doesn't change the width of the phone that much but attaches as a portable keyboard for those who love the physical keyboard. Personally, I could go either way. I love the physical kb on my Pre, but I think* I could get used to the virtual keyboard (especially how large it is on the EVO). By the way Dylan88 WELCOME!!! I saw you in Precentral a few times :)

yea i was dylanhockey4 over there! i like it here better lol. nothing against my pre, i just gotta have the latest and greatest. and unfortunately, the pre wasnt cutting it.

I am a PreCentral lurker too and am pretty sure the Evo will bring me to Android. I was totally hoping that Palm would explode with greatness and I still totally digg the OS but the hardware just drives me nuts. I was a June 6th Pre person so I hope I can early upgrade on Evo's release date.

I was a Pre line waiter too... However, I have ventured off to craigslist and found me a hero to swap my pre for. I'd like to know Android is like before I pick up my EVO.

Call Sprint, I did and found out that I wasn't eligable for an upgrade..... got that fixed! Sprint's bad! By Pre... Hello Hero and soon enough EVO

Hey Sho_one welcome to android forums! Let us know if you spot anything regarding the EVO. Or even if you spoke to a Sprint rep, have a source, whatever...you can post any rumors etc over here:

I'd actually like something with the pixi form factor with a 16:9 portrait screen with minimal bezel. I don't need a giant screen, I just need it to be big enough and the right aspect ratio. The Pixi actually could've been so much better. If you make it a touch wider you'd have better key spacing and with those raised keys you'd probably have a much easier time typing. The Pre's keyboard just sucks. The recessed area and mushy flat keys aren't ideal for anyone's fingers, thin or fat. It had to be the worst typing experience I've had on a phone. Pixi is a completely different story.
