Accessories Otterbox Case

I bought the HTC Hero Commuter off of Amazon yesterday...i read a comment that someone left stating that after arrival of the case, it wasn't a Otterbox case. The description on amazon says Otterbox...has anyone else that has bought this off Amazon received anything else other than an Otterbox?? BTW, bought mine yesterday on 3/28/10.....people that bought from amazon ,how long did it take?

I got mine from Amazon, it says Otterbox and looks official. It came from a company called Beachaudio and took about 4 days.

I've had mine for a couple weeks now and i still love it. It's saved my phone from a couple of nasty drops on concrete floors and not so much as a scratch.

First of all, i think the price is kind of steep, but i saw on here that it was on sale on newegg, and after a lot of people saying how good this case was, i decided to go ahead and purchase one. i've had it for about 2 weeks now. here is my review.

1. it DOES add quite a bit of bulkiness to it. Adding any case will add bulkiness to it. Without the cases on, my phone is considerably smaller and easier to hold. My girlfriend has the samsung moment and now my phone is about the same size as the moment with the case on.

2. But because of the bulkiness, i am not afraid of dropping it. i am more than confident that this case will keep my hero nice and dent free. (but just hidden under all the padding).

3. the screen protector is good. i like it considerably better than the $18 invisible-shield i bought with my phone. I DO NOT like the invisible-shield. It had a stickiness to it than ruins the functionality of the phone.

just my 2 cents

Just got my Otter Box Commuter yesterday. I love how the phone feels now. It doesn't feel like its going to break on me if i drop it. Con-the rubber casing collects alot of lint if you keep it in your pocket like i do. But, that is a minor drawback. Personal Rating- A-

I do find myself cleaning my pockets to keep the phone clean. ;)

I don't know if it is because of this or the case becoming less attractive to lint, but it does seem better after a week...

Thanks for the heads up...i do hope it gets better...the lint is soo annoying.

The lint problem seems to go away after a few days. There must be some sort of coating on it from the manufacturing process.

I was thinking about it, and my guess was that the skin oils from our fingers might help to resolve this issue.

I hadn't thought of a coating, but that is another possibility.

I have had my Otterbox case for over a week and a half now...still has alot of stuff sticking to it. For all you owners of longer time, it stopped for you?

I think it may have to do with the type and age of clothing too. Some of my pants put more lint on it than others. One time I had it in the front pocket of a white hoodie and when I pulled it out I could almost make a cotton ball!:D

I must say, I am loving my commuter. I'm an idiot though, the screen protector I screwed up on installation so I'm running without one. I have fairly large hands and this case feels good in my hands, it just makes the phone fit better. Even without the screen protector, I'm not TOO worried as the screen is recessed a little. Best case I've had to date for any phone...

Just got mine last night and I like it. I may try the Soray Rubber coating for the back so it isn't so slippery. I am afraid I am going to drop it, but I guess that's why I bought the case in the first place!!

Slight contrarian view on the Commuter: a friend of mind got one for his Hero, and I was able to examine it in use. It's as tight-fitting and well constructed as everyone says, etc., and does seem like it would provide a reasonable degree of impact protection. However, the slickness of the plastic case made the phone *much* harder to hang on than it was without the case. I couldn't help but think any impact protection it provided would be more than canceled out by the increased number of times the phone would probably slip out of my hand.

But since I did like the quality of the case, I ordered the all-silicone Otterbox Impact instead, and can report that I'm very happy with it. It's nice and grippy, and has contoured patches down the sides that make it even easier to hold. It also has an internal raised grid design that seems like it will provide if anything more impact resistance than the Commuter. Even better is the price: currently $11.99 on Amazon.

The slippery feel can be fixed with some of the spray on rubber paint that you can buy at Lowes. I am leaving mine alone. It isn't that slippery and it helps it slide into the pocket. I used the Zagg IS screen protector and I hate it. That is one thing I loved about the phone is how the screen felt and how easily it reacted to the slightest touch. The Zagg has a awful orange peel finish to it and it ruins the entire feel of the phone. I will probably remove it tomorrow and take my chances with a bare screen.

In short, no. I've had mine for almost 2 months and it still gets linty. It doesn't bother me though, because I know it is doing a wonderful job protecting my phone. The only thing that would improve it for me would be a clip or some way to carry it on my belt instead of my pocket. I cant find a case that fits it with the commuter on that is small enough for my liking either, and I have searched and searched.

I've never had a problem with the commuter slipping out of my hand. If anything I think it makes it easier to slide in and out of my pocket.

I love my case. Also the screen protector that comes with the case is excellent. I can barely notice it is there. When applying it I stuck it to the screen fine, but when I went to take off the top layer (protector comes with two sheets attached to it so you can stick it to the screen and then remove outer sheet once it is on the screen). When I took the top layer off the whole protector come with it, I didnt even notice and sat it down. Well it got alot of dust stuck to it. So I washed it and then applied it. So there was water mist underneath for a few days but it dried out...Now its perfect with air bubbles or anything.

Tip: Dust/fuzzes cause most bubbles. So clean it well and inspect for dust (may have to blow them off the screen).

Amazon has it for $26.46 with free shipping.

The price on newegg is
Grand Total: $24.98
and that includes 2.99 worth of shipping (so 21.99 before shipping for those of you who cannot do math :p)

thecellguru.com has it for $21.90

I'll be placing my order from thecellguru.com in a few minutes ;)

Just one question: how much bulk does the Commuter case add onto it? I wear moderately loose (just comfortable, not saggers) jeans, and I like the keep my phone in my pants unless I feel an urge to use it, like other things stored in my pants (my car keys, for example ;)).

How much bulk does the Impact sleeve thing add to it? It appears to be a large margin thinner, as it's only silicon. Someone here with a Commuter case, or an Impact sleeve/case thing, would you be so kind as to capture a photo of your sexy beast (phone) in it's fancy new clothes (case) from the side? I know it's not polite to ask how fat someone is, but I just need to see a straight side shot with a before and after case picture if possible.

There may be a special treat in store for the one(s) than can provide pictures.... (a cookie)
