Root Overclock Droid X 2.2 via Update.zip

Where are the files located after installation? I believe I need to edit mine down to a lower value, everytime I run oc, my phone gets super duper slow and can barely do anything. I mean like practically freezes slow.

what are the chances of setcpu interfering with this overclock? My phone reboots when I enable the overclock. using the leaked 2.2
set cpu is fine and you will want it to monitor the clock speed. the issue you have is your phone cannot handle that high of a clockspeed. you need to edit it lower or change the voltage.

how do you edit, this file using Root explorer? and what line needs to be changed and what numbers should i put, cause im getting freezing too?

FWIW.....

I am NOT on the OTA, and I am able to use this 1.38 setscale....

Just wanted to clear that confusion up... Maybe it will give some of you a piece of mind in not having to go that route.

Oh, and THANKS!

I'm not on the OTA (I'm running the 2.3.15 leak with ApeX RC2) and my phone could not handle 1.38. I had to pull the battery to reboot.

I am on the OTA with ApeX RC2 and the base file is running amazing for me, over two hours now and no issues. I installed Quadrant Standard for the first time just to see the score I would get and it was 1660 when I did it the first time and just tried it again and got 1753.

Same exact setup for me. Hmmm...will try this again, maybe through rom manager this time.

Edit: Nope, tried through rom manager, no difference. Still makes my phone run like my old windows mobile omnia.

guys if you are having issues please look at the original thread. http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...2-overclock-kernel-module-w-instructions.html
it is likely that you phone can not handle the settings beesley is using in this file.
you will get useful info from the thread i mentioned.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this is merely tweaking firmware based settings for a hardware component, right?

nvm: it's almost baffling how the same chips can differ so much from each device. I can't tell you a time I've seen this much fluctuation from what are supposed to be "identical" devices, hardware-wise.

this is getting very frustrating, im on OTA 2.2 running 928blackglass themed deodexed, and i see this is working on most X's wether it was the leaked 2.2 or OTA official i really want this 1.38ghz on my X. Guys which Terminal are you guys using to get this to work?

Post above yours, last line. Not all settings are going to work on all devices. Some they will, others they won't. You'll just have to find a setting that works, and is stable, for your device. Most everyone just uses Terminal Emulator; you can download from the Market.

working well so far! just hit 1770 quadrant no reboots or closes or anything yet... well se how it goes. just incase, is there a way to undo this without restoring my backup?

are you using setcpu, if so what settings did you change in setcpu? i would like to make sure i have the correct settings for it. thanks

Ok I have read and followed the instructions carefully ...I downloaded the zip file and installed it in clockwork then when I reboot I go to terminal emulator and go.to write the.script but every time I get to finish the insmod/system/lib/modules/overclock.no line this pops up ..insmod/system/lib/modules/overlock.no:not found....am I doing something wrong? Also once this is installed properly how can I tell if I am overclocked?

unless beesley changed something I think its supposed to be overclock.ko not overclock.no

yes and i think him making the update.zip overclock to 1.38 was to high for most and many will have instant reboots or go into turtle mode <-insert i like turtles kid)
maybe he should have made this update.zip overclock to 1.15 so more people can see it work without thinking they blew something up.

@tom108 what settings did you changed in setcpu? to make run at 1.38?

i am not running at 1.38 i am running 1.225 and you dont change anything in setcpu unless you want to underclock it. to modify the overclock you need to modify the setscaling100.sh in the /system/xbin directory with root explorer. it sounds to me that your phone will not handle 1.38.
