Root overclocking

My wife has an ally running 2.2. We recently rooted the phone, my question is this can the cpu on this phone be overclocked easily like I am able to on my droid 2. I know droid overclock won't work but are there any others?

It works, but not without kernel support, and the stock ally kernel does not support overclock.

i have spent a large volume of time playing with this and although i have not used frunisher, overclocking through velocity's terminal emulator works and is more stable than the market apps, 2 of which sent my phone in to power cycles untill my safty messures kicked in when my battery hot to hot. you may find that you dont need to overclock once you find a custom rom you like due to the built in tools and lack of very annoying bloat ware.

Thanks for the rom suggestions. Its now running velocity 1.0 and is clocked to 806. Its like a whole new phone!
