This is only my second ROM I've tried after rooting ages ago onto defrost.

My first problem is the market has only saved my paid apps. Any idea how I can save/access my free ones that I previously downloaded?

I did a Nandroid backup and what not so I can always go back to Defrost if I need to.

I'm kinda n00bish so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You need to use titanium backup to backup apps.

Maybe restore nandroid, do titanium backup of user apps then wipe and flash Rom again

The market only saved paid apps. To backup free apps and paid apps, download either TitaniumBackup, or MyBackup Root from the market. They do both.

Sweet, cheers folks. Just restoring now. I'll no doubt be bugging you all again shortly. :D

Ah. Shouldn't my nandroid back-up have saved my apps too?? It has only saved a few.

Rebooted and they were there. Thought I'd shot it there for a minute!

Backing-up...

When you restore, restore missing apps with data. Go through and untick anything that is part of the Rom like wallpaper settings etc. Just leave market stuff ticked

Backing-up...

You might already know this but if not ...

Obviously when you flash a new rom it's advisable to do a full wipe. Don't format the SD or delete anything, as that is where the backup app stores the backup files. Then once you flash the new rom and boot, download the backup app again from the market and it will find the files on the SD and you can restore.

Cheers for your help folks, I managed to get everything sorted and my apps back. Then I thought I was clever and installed a theme which buggered up a few apps, Facebook in particular. So I've restored the nandroid back-up I took before I applied the theme and fannied about sorting my apps out again.

Now I have a new problem that's annoying me. My browser (stock/Dolphin Mini and Dolphin HD) are all closing almost immediately after I start them or click a link. The same is happening with ROM Manager, I start it, click ok to the pop-up warning and then it closes. No force close report or anything, it just shuts down. Anything advisable other than reflashing the ROM and pissing about with my apps again for another 3 hours?

As always, any help is appreciated.

For the browser:

Applications>manage applications then clear data

For rom manager > uninstall. Never reinstall. never use.

For the browser:

Applications>manage applications then clear data

Tried this, there isn't a clear data option. There's a clear cache option which I tried. It still closes.

For rom manager > uninstall. Never reinstall. never use.

I'm not massively bothered about it but I wanted to try fixing permissions to see if it'd sort out my browser problems. Any other free app that fixes permissions?

Ta :)

You can wipe data for an application via titanium backup by the way.

You may have restored too much data from another rom that caused this.

No joy, still closing straight after it's opened. Cleared data with Titanium. Uninstalled and then reinstalled, rebooted, nothing seems to sort it.

Try a factory reset, redownload titanium and restore just the browser. If that works, it means something you restored caused the trouble,

What will I lose with a factory reset? Everything? Will I still be on the same ROM? Is it done via Recovery?

Sorry for the all the questions!

Basically, it will be the same rom, but with no apps or data. This is all backed up in titanium anyway, so its purely for testing.

Looks like that may have sorted it.

In other news, guess who's just discovered Titanium's batch feature?

Derp.
