Panda Home

Count me as another fan of this home screen replacement. Very fast, easy to add more screens to either side, and the organization of the pull-up menu is great.

I am guessing he meant "Smoother than .997, since that was the original comparison. Personally, I don't see a whole lot of noticeable lag with the new test version for the droid, .998. (if any). I love it. Can't wait for the stable release.

Yes I meant smoother than the last build. Still has issues though. Get random vibrates going from screen 3 to 4, app menu button is highlighted whenever I go to the home screen, and sometimes when I click HOME I get a blank screen, icons don't appear unless I swipe or press home again.

That happens to me in the new build as well as the previous build, but only in landscape. I have yet to have that happen in portrait.

Have you emailed the author about it yet? He is a great guy, and he works quick... but he still relies on our feedback to get it right. ;)

I just installed Panda Home this morning and like it so far.

However I cannot figure out how to "add" screens. I filled up my three home screens (Droid). When I try to add more, the Add button is grayed out. I read somewhere that you had to fill your screens before adding more - but I just don't see how to add the screens now that my current three are full.

Drag something to the edge of your last screen as if you were moving it between screens. Tadah, additional screen. You do not have to fill your current screens to add more.

Quoting myself from further up this very thread.

There is no "Option" to add more screens. They automatically expand as you drag icons off current screens.

I've got a myTouch with 1.6, paid for dxTop, and just downloaded PH.

I'm loving PH! :)

Anyone think I should download a beta?

I tried it, and honestly I don't mind the default home screen.

One thing to note, it's not actually a homescreen replacement, as the regular homescreen still is on your phone and is still active. You're now actually running two homescreens, you're just only using one. The default home application rarely shows up in task killer software, but it is almost always running, so now you've got an app you're not using that never shuts off.

That doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother me at all that other programs might be operating in the background that I don't see. My phone doesn't run any slower at all.

Are you sure you don't have OCD? :D

Maybe I didnt do something right. I installed the .98 and It changed/rearranged all my icons and didnt give me the option to add more screens. Is the .98 the latest?

I don't like the fact that all my folders and widgets disappered when I installed PH. I dont want to have to re set them all up.

You're folders and widgets aren't gone. They are still there in the stock home app. I haven't met a replacement that doesn't behave this way, however I do remember reading something about one of the replacements importing the widgetsAndWhatNots from the stock home app. I can't remember where I saw it or which replacement does it though.

I knew they weren't 'gone' because when I swithced back to stock they were all there. I tried dxTop first and it imported my stuff. I just thought they would all do that.

I played with it for a while but gave up. All the program icons in the tray disappeared. They were still there in the stock "home" but the pull up tray was empty in Panda. The only way to get them back was to uninstall and reinstall. About 2 days later, they disappeared again. This time, I didn't reinstall. At least for me, too buggy for everyday use.

Gravy. From my experience (open home, dxtop, panda home, home++) most don't. When I tried dxtop it did not import my widgetMaBobers for me. Maybe I hit the wrong button.

Have you written up an issue for the developer? He's usually pretty responsive. Like you I also stopped using it because of stability issues, but I did open some tickets though in hopes that he one day fixes them.

My only problem was I had inadvertently selected to use the Stock home as default and didn't know how to "remove all defaults" and reselect my panda home page instead. It hasn't been unstable at all for me.

This exact same thing happened to me! How do you change is so that panda is your default home theme? Please advise!

PS: did anyone notice that they removed the "bounce-back" effect when attempting to swipe to a non existent homescreen with the latest update? :(

Settings->Aoolications->Manage Applications (Find Home you may need to hit the menu key and set the filter to all) Clear the Default then it will give you the choice again

Click on settings, Applications, Manage Applications, Home, Clear Defaults.
Then when you click on the Home button it will ask you if you want to use pandahome or Home. Check use as default then select the one you want to use as default.

Wow! I didn't know there was an update until just now. WOW!
