Help Pandora on the Moment

Also having problems with it ...it was ok on my hero though...time to email them or should I leave negative feedback on comments ?
 
Pandora started awful on my Hero, had to uninstall/reinstall a couple of times. Then it worked beautifully for 2.5 weeks. Now, since I uninstalled my Task Manager, it forces closed while I am trying to open it.

Gonna get the Moment tonight, hopefully I will have success with Pandora.

I do get a couple of "clicks" during the changeover(I would assume it is requiring a lot of processor power to change the screen). But after that it is stable. I also get those same clicks as the screen times out. One thing I do is just hit the red phone button to turn the screen off and then jam away.
 
I notice that sometimes Pandora sounds choppy when starting to play a new song. Anyone else experience this?
 
Sometimes I get a garbled sound and other times I don't. I can't pinpoint what is causing it, but it is definitely not from moving the phone because I have it sitting on my desk.

Pandora also tends to freeze or not respond to my touch when I try to skip a song or give it a thumbs up or down.

It also doesn't play the whole song sometimes. What gives?? This is one of my fave apps, so I'm really disappointed that it doesn't work properly.
 
same thing here. was great on the hero, sucks on the moment...lots of clipping/skipping. i'm sure if we all e-mail the app makes on the market he will get the hint.
 
I have to agree Pandora on the Hero was nothing but headaches for me. It kept locking up or won't play the next song. Pandora on the moment is a lot more stable and faster probably due to the faster processor. However the sound quality is very bad even when HQ is selected. I hooked it up to my Onkyo system at home and it had no bass or highs. Hopefully they fix this in the future. To note I'm actually not getting any clipping or skipping only when I am in a place with a weak signal.
 
After the last update Pandora's been working great on the Hero, unfortunately it doesn't seem they fixed the Moment issues.

I'm under the impression that Pandora uses some pretty 'advanced' buffering mechanisms to reduce data-usage while prioritizing stream quality, and that the algorithms are closely tied to the processor architecture and clock speed. Since the Moment is technically 'overclocked', I think it's messing with the stream buffering and causing the problems we see here.
 
Is it just Pandora for everyone else? That was my first thought, but it turns out to happen with Slacker, too. A sure fire way to set it off is to rotate the phone, and it always happens at the beginning of a new song. It also happens randomly. Both on cellular and fast wifi.

Now, I haven't loaded any music on to my sd card, but I also get some pretty bad stuttering in my ringtone when my phone rings. Am I isolated in this being a farther reaching issue?
 
Pandora isn't the only thing to suffer. Just now when my phone rang, as I picked up the phone to see who was calling, just moving the damn thing in my hand made the ringtone 'crackle' like Pandora does sometimes. Once the call was connected though, the phone call didn't have any garble to it (But it has become garbled if i receive an incoming text while on a call).

Kind of pisses me off.
 
So I had issues with Pandora at home after it had been playing a few songs. I'm thinking the memory started to get over run. I did have a few other things loaded and running in the background I'm sure. The sound quality was still good, but it did get quite choppy in there a few times. I also don't get the greatest signal at home, so I may have been losing my 3G.
 
If you aren't getting any Pandora issues or they're sporadic, try this:

Turn your phone so it switches between landscape and normal orientation several times... still no glitching?

It would be nice to know if this is something -everyone- experiences and some people just don't notice, or if it's something only some of us experience. Rotating the phone while Pandora plays has definitely been something that reliably messes up my stream.

PS- I run pandora through its widget, if that matters.

My Pandora malfunctioned BIG TIME this morning while I was getting ready for work. I had it playing while sitting perfectly stationary on my desk and all of a sudden, it began to crackle and did not stop. I tried to stop Pandora, but it froze my touchscreen and I had to power the device completely off to get it to stop.

I think anything that needs a lot of processor power will cause it to skip....and what you mention definitely happnes on mine. Once it is happy and stable then it plays just fine....for the most part....it does occasionally skip/crackle during a song change....which I guess uses some processing power???.....

But with the 'fastest' processor in the android lineup (and many 'slower' phones don't have skipping problems), this seems like it could be a big problem.

As I have said before, last night a default ringtone for an incoming phonecall suffered the same skipping/glitching when I picked the phone up to see who was calling. That shouldn't happen, and I think it shows this isn't a Pandora issue, but something wrong with the phone/OS.
 
I've used Pandora on the T-Mo G1 (slower hardware, even!) and it had none of the problems with stuttering that the Moment does (and just like with everyone eise, it happens when the screen rotates or when you turn it on or off).

But in Pandora's defense, every music app I've tried on the Moment has this same issue with stuttering; really surprising for a phone fully 50% faster than nearly all its peers.
 
Got a replacement and it still does it with Pandora. Guess it's just something we'll have to live with.

Here's hoping we won't have to live with it for too long. Seems like a widespread problem, hopefully it will get worked out.

Pandora is probably one of my favorite apps. Now, if I can get podcasts from iTunes on there, I'll be ecstatic!
