Root Paranoid Android Halo build available

Works great so far! I absolutely love the idea. Just wish I didn't always have to have the halo onscreen to receive those notifications.

Been debating all morning if I'm going to flash it!

... at this point it's just a matter of actually DOING it....

I'll probably give it a go on my Nexus 7 first, if the halo thing has to be on screen at all times, I'd find it less annoying of it's on a bigger screen.

I've used it for about a day, it's extremely innovative but it is definitely in its early stages as there are currently no settings control. It comes in really handy, makes multitasking a beautiful thing! I'm, personally, waiting to get options and customization so that only selected apps pop up in the halo before I stick to it.

Still, it's a great feature to try out even just to see it for yourself!

I was so excited to flash it... And now I'm not too sure what to do with it lol. It's pretty cool feature though. Will be better when it disappears when you don't have any notifications. And settings will be nice when they come.

Running the May 5th Alpha build on my N4 right now. I love the idea, but as others have mentioned it's definitely still an alpha build. I'd recommend any chronic flashers out there give it a go.

anyone got screenshots of this, I have not even heard of halo, maybe link to information page. I checked the link in the OP but it was just a download page.

Thank you very interesting. Not sure yet what I think of it but will say this with pa as it is I sometimes miss texts or even missed calls because the notification is not there.

Just installed Facebook messenger for the first time... Didn't realize it had chat heads and handles SMS texts. It's actually pretty sweet.

HALO alpha 3 rolling out

Changes Copy From Paranoid Android G+ Community:

List of changes so far:
- double-tap-swipe gets you through the ongoing tasks, lift finger and it starts the intent, go back and you're at the last incoming notification again. watch your statusbar as point of reference while swiping
- duplicated ticker is gone
- statusbar/halo flicker or notification spam should be solved

Over the coming weeks/months this will be cleaner and nicer looking - all the flaws that it still has will eventually be washed away.

HALO alpha 4 rolling out

This perhaps can be called a pre-beta already as it marks a big step from the previous alphas. I guess this is the first time that even very picky people will start to use it - although much work needs to be done for sure.

I give you a small rundown:

- This is the first HALO build with options, you find them under Settings/Toolbars/Statusbar

- Option #1 can hide HALO from sight completely after inactivity, its for those that want to use it as a ticker.

- Option #2 can reverse the gestures that drive its interaction. Its set to reversed by default now, that means tap-drag selects tasks, doubletap-drag or longpress-drag can move it around. Unchecking the options reverses that. In either way, a single tap launches the current halo'ed task and when dragging through tasks if you lift your finger tasks will be launched as well. if you drag back while tasking the last real notification that came in will pop (but not launch).

- When selecting tasks HALO will temporarily show all statusbar icons to make it easier for you. That should be your point of reference, just follow the icons as they light up and select what you want.

- Minor fixes, it dims a little again, some things that wouldnt cause HALO to pop do now, tasking is more straight forward and probably bug-less by now.

Rom is ready for mako, others will follow.

PA is probably one of my favourite custom ROMs. I like the idea of Halo but I just wish they would have some more options to it. Currently you can have halo set to always visible or hidden which means it only pops up for a short amount of time after a notification.
I would love an option to have it hidden with a pop up for notifications but to stay popped until I have read or dismissed it. This way if I use the Pie UI I would always know if I had a notification. My problem now is while using pie if I don't have my phone in front of me when I receive the notification I have no way of seeing it when I return to the phone unless I check the pull down bar every time.
At the moment it seems to be more like a task switcher, where as I would like to use it as a notification system.

HALO))) + HALOALPHA5 rolling out

First things first,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paranoid.halo

you guys asked for a solution to dial in your favourite apps anywhere you go. Now Halo is supposed to be simple and straight forward, we never liked this padding-everything-out-with-options business but a modular app is perhaps a nice way to do it.

It integrates well with todays alpha, that means added apps will not clutter your notification curtain. You'll see them through Halo.

Things that were changed in alpha5 are:

- style adaption
- flicking through ongoing tasks gives you the message content, too
- minor clean up and less resource usage

Its pretty minor.

Have fun with that app, it's basic but we can sure add functionality to it. We made it free btw and it works for all roms.

I tried it this morning but I wasn't a fan. I like the notification bar and found that halo was too obtrusive. I have my homescreen setup with my calendar, weather, and a few other things and halo was just clogging it up. I may try it again once they put out a few more builds. I do like the innovation that is occurring with PA.

I haven't gotten enough notifications to really get a feel for halo. I was able to use it for playing Play Music while in a video game. Also, I'm on track for one of those superb battery lives people mention. I'm at 25hrs on battery, 2:20hrs screen on, and still 38% battery. I think I was just using ELE, but PIE on PA feels much more refined and the quicksettings for it work smoothly.
