Help PC does not recognice my device

right, there in lies your problem

do you still see android adb interface when you disable debugging on the device?
settings>applications>development> debugging

if you do, uninstall the adb drivers by right clicking and uninstall
disconnect the device
make sure you install htc sync so the drivers are installed
connect the device.

adb drivers are for debugging only, not for the other stuff so if youve linked the adb drivers to the htc usb device option then it will not detect the other services available

The found new hardware wizard can't find drivers. I've done this many times already, won't help. Seems like the drivers don't support my motherboard or something, i'm right now tring to change driver files in program files>HTC>HTC Driver to hopefuly recognize. Should take some 5-10 minutes and if you have any other suggestion in that time it is very welcome.

have you installed the latest sync from htc?

nothing to do with your motherboard, its windows and something has happened that its not detecting it.

wierd one but im sure its fixable

I don't know if they are installed. I suppose they should install with HTC Sync, i have the latest one. In start>all programs i have 2 HTC folders. First one is probably from older HTC Sync (installed just to try to get it working) and in that folder HTC>HTC Driver>Uninstall HTC Driver, nothing else. And in the other folder, named HTC Sync>HTC Sync and Uninstall HTC Sync.

uninstall anything htc related and remove the folders
uninstall any drivers you find connected to the device
download and install the latest sync from the htc site
dont connect the device till theve been installed
once installed connect the device, it should start the found new hardware wizard and find the correct drivers

Can't find them still.

i also tried downloading some more drivers, android_usb_windows.zip, but won't install anything from there either.

odd behaviour
you need the sync drivers to be found
something your pc doesnt like about these drivers
try using a port at the back to install them
it obviously sees the device there
android_usb_windows is for adb and bootload

I can sync music with winamp or explorer, pics with dropbox or explorer emails and that sort of stuff with google but nothing does them all. Having android sync working would be a blessing, keep the suggestions coming guys.....

Been tring all these instructions with USB on the back of my PC. But where these driver files are? maybe if i manualy show the new hardware wizard where they maybe it can see them then?! And in witch mode should i connect, disk drive, htc sync, with/without debugging?

Mine doesn't show up on my computer at home or at work.

Nothing wrong with the cables as i have tried several. It's the same connection for the Nokia phones.

When plugged in to the computer, the pc makes the sound that a device is connected, but no folder selection shows up, neither is it visible in " My Computer "

Phone set to disk drive. Actually tried setting it to everything

we actually have the same problem. I hope we get a solution soon. Hopefully somebody.out there would figure out a solution.

connect it without debugging as charge only. it should still pick up the drivers
its got to be something to do with your machine if it works on another computer

does it show anything in device manager?

Nope, still won't install drivers.

Can it be possible, that my PC has a limited number of "USB Gadgets" it can recognize? let say i have already connected like 5 devices and installed drivers and now my desire would be the 6th and it just can't handle so many. (those 5 gadgets aren't connected at the time of example)

does it show anything in device manager?

Quite honestly i'm so close to chucking this phone in the trash. I'm not an iPhone believer. I run Linux on another computer and keep up to date with the world. But this phone :mad:

Theoretically it's only a block of plastic with a hard drive, any other phone i've owned, plug it in to "any" computer. Finds it, transfer of your items. Job done. :D This phone ?!? Bought a bluetooth USB today for computer. Finds the phone, pairs it, but isn't connected and won't connect.

I don't want to join the rest of the nothings and get an iPhone, but problem after problem with this phone, i'm so darn close :o

Thanks for any help :)

well its either you are doing something wrong or the phone is bust
majority of people have no problems mounting it to pc or doing anything
so its not the desire thats an issue and theres no reason to start dissing it like its all desires android etc
its not, its your phone thats a problem. have you contacted htc? taken it into a store for testing?

just like any product there are hardware and software issues but in most cases its fine

It's the 5th phone i've had. 1st phone was used as a tester in store and the lovely sales guy put his gmail addy in the phone. You do know a hard reset will not remove the gmail address don't you. So your stuck with the phone until it dies. No re-sale of your phone as it's not possible to remove the gmail addy.

2nd phone, got stuck on the welcome screen.

3rd phone, wouldn't charge.

4th phone, wouldn't find wireless networks.

5th phone, this one, just like the other 4 phones, won't connect to PC. Won't connect to HTC sync either. I don't want another phone i want a refund. I do love the way that people say " Well it must be your PC ". I put my Nokia N97 in to the PC works fine. No problems. I have a

Just to add. The majority of people in google searches who use Android forums, do have an issue with connected to their computers. Just because there is few posts on this forum, doesn't mean the majority of DHD users don't have this problem. I shall leave your forum now as your looking for a bit of keyboard warrior, not helpful replies. So **** YOU TOSSER !!

ive given some advice and was being quite normal. ive been around android for a long time.
seems you need to grow up though, no wonder the seller keeps sending you duff devices, he probably gets a kick from your bad attitude

wow you can swear on forums for extra effect.

have a nice life, your kind will not be missed on these forums
ciao

OK, so getting back on track, there are a couple of us in this thread that have the same problem.....we all sound fairly tech savvy and I find it difficult to believe that we all have dud phones so there has to be a software conflict somewhere.....should we explore that scenario further?

well theres 3 of you 1 of which has proven his device works on another machine so we can rule out that its the phone and we know its something to do with how the os is taking the drivers for the phone and mass storage.

the other person says hes tried it on multiple machines and has said himself he has been provided numerous bad devices which imo means its something to do with that seller and the devices they are providing.

as for yourself, make sure you go through the steps in order that i provided to the other guy with the device that works on his laptop

checking to see what device manager says about the device when its connected.
