Help PC will not see phone

Newbie
Hi...

I wanted to swap out the SD card in my EVO. So I connected a USB cable between the phone and my PC. Nothing happened. I am running 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate

In the phone, I went to connect PC in setting, and i had a check mark in ASK ME. I toggled that on and off and nothing happened. I rebooted windows. Nothing.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

When you plug your phone into your computer select "disc drive".
Hi. Thanks for your email. I should have added that my phone default connect type is "Disk Drive".

I have rebooted the phone and still the same issue. My phone is less then a week old.

Thanks for trying to help me.

More info...

I found some software at Sprint's web site called "HTC Sync". I installed it on my PC. Install went fine.

My phone still can not be seen by my computer. I tried different spare USB ports. Nothing.

Question: Is the USB charging cable and a USB sync cable the same thing?

When I plug my HTC EVO into my computer, the USB port will start charging the phone. Do I have to turn charging off somehow to make it sync?

each time you plug the phone into the usb port you should get a pop up asking what type of connection to use. if you have ever set this default to charge only, don't ask again, you will need to go to
menu.settings.connect to pc.change the default and make sure ask me is checked

if this still doesn't work one of a few things are happening
you have a bad cable
your charging port may be broken
you have an app that is interfering with the connection (typically a sync type app like doubletwist or other music sync apps)
