People about to do update

Okay I just wanted to verify. I will see if I can get it to work.

Edit: I tried running and I got the message that it was waiting on the Device. So I hit Control C to kill the process and try again.
I mounted my phone. and tried the command again and it says The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Reboot your PC, and then make sure your phone is in the debug mode before you try again. Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging

You don't need to mount your phone as a drive for this either. Alternately, I found that you can stop adb.exe from task manager too, saves you the reboot.

THanks, someone form another thread was helping me. I had sync installed but trouble with my phone connecting. Turned on my av was preventing it. I then ended the adb process and ran the command and it worked fine. So I am set...

If you guys ever need to kill adb just use this from a command prompt
Code:
 adb kill-server
That command should kill the process, in case windows wont let you get to the txt because its being used by adb.

I'm really surprised that someone hasn't been able to give the download info yet. A lot of folks are willing...are a lot of folks still coming in saying that they received the update?

I have seen very few since these clear instructions were finally given by T2noob.
I remember some lady getting it, but having no clue about this thread. Other than that... I dont know, maybe 1 or 2 have popped in to say they got it and then disappeared without answering any questions and of course without sharing.
I havent seen anyone receive it today, and even not since yesterday afternoon. This is rolling out painfully slow.

Indeed. It's becoming excruciating.

at that time when a few people said they got the OTA was when the forum was down for a long time.. im sure that if this has been up and people read the instructions, we probably could be playing with the official OTA right now. but what can you do.

I'd like to apologize to everyone in the forum that is anxiously awaiting for someone to snag the log file and/or receive the OTA. I have to accept complete responsibility for this as it is simply by my also wanting this update and being involved here that I have ruined it not only for myself but for all of you. Just like when I wanted my Buffalo Bills to win a Superbowl and my Buffalo Sabres to win a Stanley Cup. I think I'll go get an iPhone so that all of you can get your update. :)

I have the update waiting on my phone. i really don't want to lose root, but if nobody has it by the time i get off work today, i might go ahead and get the URL.

I, for one, would not expect you to lose root just to get the URL. Since I am one of those who cannot root, but really wants to, the benefits of you getting the URL do not outweigh the benefits you enjoy with root. One of us other leakers will get the URL, eventually.

Please do not to do this update. It's clear that you like having root and there is no reason why you should give that up to satisfy a handful of people on the internet, who you have never met, that are being impatient.

Same thing here, install/run and do a sync with HTC Sync. Make sure your phone is set to HTC Sync option, not just Charging or Disk Drive (change your USB type from the notification area). Then do the adb part again. You should no longer see -waiting for device-.

its on my phone right now. I am running Sense-able 3.1.

I would have no reason to update but find the download link.

Thats very generous of you, and would be greatly appreciated. However, it is great news just to finally see the first person since yesterday morning to receive an OTA notification.
We now at least know that the OTA rollout hasnt been halted for one reason or another, and someone with nothing to lose should be able to help us out. I would hate to see you lose root for an indefinite period of time.

Please, do the update. You would actually be contributing to the dev community by allowing them to gain access to the official build and start working on an exploit that much sooner. Then, hopefully just about anyone can root.

There was also some discussion over on XDA suggesting the user could do a battery pull to prevent the update.

or brick the phone, i would be damned if i pulled my battery in the midst of an update unless i was gonna get it replaced anyway.

but i would do the update if i could log it, imagine all the fame and "thanks" you will get for it. you would be the eris king, and otd could be your queen

Why take the chance? Being able to help others with their cellphones is no reason for me to take the chance to ruin what I have with mine.

Dont do it we can wait for a leaker to get notification. there is absolutely no reason why you should loose your root.
and so the notification goes away rename
/system/etc/security/otacerts.zip
to
/system/etc/security/otacertas.zip.nothanks
