Someone is up past my bedtime..... or maybe it is up past your bedtime..... i can't seem to remember......

what were we talking about??

I think you got off easy, Steven. I'm a short gal, only 4'11". One time at a professional conference, I was walking toward a set of glass double doors. Two bigger guys were behind me, walking faster than me, heading toward the same doors. They were so involved in their conversation, that they didn't even see me in front of them, & knocked me into the doors.

I'm also an equal opportunity door holder. At the gym, everyone is usually so into themselves that they wouldn't realize a nice gesture if it bit them on the ass. I get thank you's, or at least a nod more often than not. Of course I also get a share of having to leap toward a closing door because the person in front of me didn't hold it.

The upper respiratory infection woke me up at 4'ish. I did go back to bed for a long time, though. Got up and am at work. May I have some pity, please? :p:rolleyes:

Oh jeez Louise. I have arthritis in my neck which aggravates a deteriorating disc putting my left arm in almost constant pain. I've had both my gall bladder and appendix removed (appendix burst ... that was fun) and been scoped in every major orifice multiple times. This past winter i had to have a cardiac catheterization because of an arrhythmia. On Easter Sunday i got bit by a tick which has proven to be a carrier of Lyme. To top it off, the trees are dropping pollen like napalm making my sinuses feel like a platypus crawled up my nose and died. And they want to call this "intelligent" design ...

Pity for a little infection? I should be so lucky.

I'm sorry you are suffering so much and although I was totally kidding about the pity, I apologize for saying that.

While the medical issues are all true (including a few I didn't mention because they probably should be behind a cut), I'm hardly suffering (much) and not at all offended, so there's no need to apologize. It was meant in the spirit of jovial oneupmanship. It's just all part of the aging process.

When you get to me my age, you either accept it and are thankful for the medical community (not to be confused with the rat b@stards who work in the insurance gulag), you become a cranky old curmudgeon and shake your fist at the kids playing on your lawn, or ... you wouldn't vroom if you had 10,000 volts put through you ... you have gone to meet the choir invisible ... pushing up the daisies, as it were.

Drink plenty of fluids and get your rest.

Well on your list of rude places you should have included So California............ I get that on a daily basis....... thats when I in-turn say you are very welcome its my pleasure to hold the door open for you ladies............then as they walk away i turn to the person Im with and just like wtf......... It must be cause I have tattoos showing.... why do people treat people with tattoos different?

funny story I held the car door open for a chick once while she was getting outa my car and she got all upset cause of the gesture..... lets just say that chick wasn't around me shortly after that.....well mostly cause this chick thought everything was owed to her........

Chick, LOL. You so deserve a class act lady.

I call girls chicks, too. Not that it's said in disrespect...although I should probably check myself on that. Just because I'm a "chick" as well doesn't mean it wouldn't offend some.

I absolutely HATE the term "broad." There's nothing more disrespectful than that, besides vulgar & insulting terms.

Female here checking in:

That was just plain rude. What awful people. And I have the same thing happen to me - from women and men both when I go to the gym, and open the door for the other early morning workout junkies (who are usually quite older than me)

I hate that word "broad" when my buddies use that term I smack them upside the head.... I feel that to be total disrespect to you ladies.

ok .. i bite....

whats the difference between ... broad vs chick?

For me, it could very well just be stereotypical connotation. Also, I've grown up with my friends calling girls/women "chicks" just like tattedman, and it's meant with no disrespect toward women. For example, in my clubbing days I'd go out to a lesbian club and meet up with friends. A friend would say "Annie! Have you seen all the hot chicks here tonight?"

With "broad" it may very well be stereotypical, but I think of middle-aged men who are rapidly losing their looks but still think they have a way with women. I think of a guy who's balding, chubby, reeking of cologne, etc. A scenario would be a guy like this taking a woman out for dinner. On the way out, the woman runs into an old friend and starts talking to her. After a couple minutes the guy says "Hey if you broads wanna stop yappin I'd like to go home now."
