Root Performance from Stock

Do you think you can achieve the speed, battery performance, stability, etc you get with say Apex or Liberty if you go stock, root, deodex, remove bloatware, overclock.

Just wondering if the roms provide greater performance based on the way they are compiled / written or whether the big boost is from rooting and removal of bloatware.

There's always those tweaks, optimized code and toolboxes that many devs provide.

In my opinion, no. Rom devs know what bloatware can be removed and what causes problems. You might be able to remove lots of stuff, but could develop battery life issues due to services relying on missing services. Let's face it, they know their roms inside and out and most of us would only be guessing. :D

FWIW, the leaked 3.4.2 is a motoblur-stock rom that flys in terms of speed and is very stable compared with original motoblur-stock.

The phone's no slouch with the stock ROM. I have mine rooted, deodexed, running Launcher Pro, and with a 1.2 Ghz overclock. I have absolutely no complaints about the speed. I had Liberty on it for awhile, but didn't notice much of a speed increase, if any.

Good to know, though I'm going to wait to install it. Fission is running too good for me. :)
