Root Phiremod 6.0

Trying to change the screen density from 161 to 160 - and LCDensity hangs whenever I try to change it.

Is there a workaround or should I reflash and try it again?

Also, I guess there is a new kernel (update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-041811C.zip) I can't find it but it's supposedly out there.

Anybody try it yet? I guess I will tonight!

The kernel is here:

Index of /dalingrin/kernels/test_builds

Use at your own risk though, it's experimental.

Phiremod 6 here and LCDensity runs just fine. You can also change density via a prop build. I played with it a bit and left it at stock.

Ok, I'm sorry but I searched the forum and google & couldn't figure out what a prop build is... any thing you could possibly point me to? Thanks!

OK, I tried to edit /system/build.prop through root explorer, but it would not let me edit it because it said it's a read only file. I tried opening the terminal emulator and doing su chmod to add write access and that didn't work either. Did I miss a step somewhere?

Do I have to use adb? I'm in the middle of downloading the SDK so I can try messing around with that after work.

edit: just found here that it's recommended that you turn off compatibility mode in Spare Parts if LCDensity is causing problems, so that's another thing I can check when I get home. I need to start bringing my nook to work because I can still tinker with things like this during the day :)

Why are you trying to change the LCD density? Thought I read that the default 160 caused too many issues and that why the CM7 builds default to 161.

Just curious.

What I read is that most of the issues caused by it are related to Google Maps. I don't use Maps very often, and at this point I would honestly prefer if Google Reader and the various games I have that don't take up the full screen worked properly. If changing it causes other issues I'm not aware of I can always change it back (once I figure out how to change it in the first place!!!)

When you open a folder with Root Explorer, you have to check the file permissions at the top. If it's "r/w" at the top, you're ok to edit your file, but if it says, "r/o" (read-only), you'll need to tap the Mount R/w button at the top. Remember to change it back when you're done.
