Help phone call screen problem

all of a sudden when i am talking on the phone and take the phone from my ear, the screen is dark, instead of showing the call in progress info ??
Anyone know how to keep the screen from goingdark when lifted from your ear ?

It could also be just a bad proximity detector. It sees proximity, but fails to see it going away.

If you want your screen on at all times even when it's up to your ear open the phone app, tap on the settings key then call settings then un-check Turn off screen during calls. I'm pretty sure that is on by default.
