Help Phone Dead?

So my phone was down to 25% last night and before I went to sleep I plugged it into the charger like I normally do. Wake up this morning to find the phone completely off and unable to even turn on after holding the power button.

I get to work and try plugging it into the charger I have there but still nothing, not even the white battery icon. I've tried plugging it into a computer, pulling the battery, holding down the power and volume buttons and still nothing.

So is my phone really dead? I can take it to Verizon but I'm not sure if they would give me a new replacement or a refurb since I got this phone in Dec. I don't need to worry about the content on the phone since it's all backed up to the sd card.......wait there is no sd card? FML

Any ideas or other suggestions I should try?

First your contacts would save to google by default. Your gmail account while setting up your phone would receive/sync these contacts from google servers.

Second, why wouldnt they replace your phone if you just got it in december. What charger were you using? Was it the one shipped with your phone. NEVER use another charger other than the one shipped with your device.

You could try to leave the battery out for a few hours/days, but i could never expect someone to go without their device for days... lol

If i helped hit the thanks button.

I'm not worried about contacts since they're in the cloud, I'm more worried about all the pictures, videos, personal info, etc. that is usually stored on an SD card like any non-Nexus Android phone.

I always use the stock charger at home so that's not the problem, but I have used other chargers/cables from other phones and it's just fine. I'm pretty sure I could get it replaced at Verizon but I'm hoping it won't be a refurb.

I've taken the battery and SIM card out now for about half an hour but I'll give it a little more time before trying again.

they will replace it, but I just wanted to disagree with tyler here, you can use other chargers with your phone other than the stock one it was sent with. I'd bet most of the people on this forum have more chargers than the single one it came with; just make sure it's good for your phone lol.

So taking the battery and SIM card out for an hour before trying again does nothing...... looks like I'll be paying Verizon a visit soon *frustrating*

Verizon will only offer me a refurb in return for my dead phone but we called Samsung and I can send it to them for repairs. Getting a refurb will only take a couple days but sending it to Samsung might take weeks with no guarantee that the phone will work again and in that case I'd just end up with the refurb anyway.

I'm on the fence with this because getting a refurb is my last resort. I don't like the idea of having paid $300 for a new phone only to have it break down and be left with a used one from who knows where, it just doesn't seem right and only after 3 months too.

My main goal was to save any photos and files on the phone but it looks like I'd lose them either way since Samsung will wipe the phone if they can get it to work.

So now I have a dilemma, send it to Samsung for warranty repairs and I keep my original phone or get a refurb from Vzw?

If Samsung repairs it, will it cost?

And I second that using other chargers is a non-issue.

It's within the 1 year warranty so there would be no extra cost. I'm leaning towards just getting the refurb since it'll take weeks to get it back from Samsung and they might not be able to fix it anyway.

Try this if you don't mind. Pull battery, and wait 5 minutes or so. Then put battery back in. Plug into charger. Wait 15 seconds or so, then try to turn it on.

Already tried that a few times already, it's just dead now. Vzw is sending me a refurb so now it's back to rockin the Eris for a few days.........ugh
