Root Phone does not recognize SD card or pc

I wish I had more info for you, my buddy rooted the phone and everything went fine, then we went into clockwork mod and clicked recovery.

Ill try that.

I right click on Android 1.0 on my devices in my computer but there is no update driver option. I did the trouble shoot option but it did nothing

ok well what the heck!!!!!!!!!!not sure if that was going to work, but you should be able to update the driver. did you download the unrevoked usb driver? did you use unrevoked to get you rooted?

yeah i used unrevoked when we did the root and i downloaded the link at the top of the page you sent me but i could not use it. it says the device is installed correctly but it is still unknown

You said it only charges sometimes. Could it be a problem with your usb port or cable? Maybe the computer's port?

Hmm... you don't happen to have a nandroid floating around on your sd card do you?

Can you access the sd card / usb from recovery? I have used the ms-usb mode in amon ra in the past... have you tried that?

i cleared my sd card because i thought that was the problem =\

It seems to look for an sd card when i hold down the the volume button and click the power button

When it goes to the bootloader it automatically looks for a file called PC36IMG.zip on your sd card. After that you can go to recovery and try and toggle usb and see if your pc sees it then.

yeah the other guy had me do that, it sees it. it is under unknown devices. It does not pop up so i can access the files just under devices. when i turn on the phone it sees it as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM

This will be a major pain in the ass, but what about this.

1. Remove SD card.
2. Download any linux live CD.
3. Load live cd, locate file (PC36IMG.zip)
4. Copy file to SD card.

It'll be a huge annoyance, but I don't see how that wouldn't work. Unless the SD card is bad, but I have a feeling that the issue could just be windows acting up. You had mentioned an issue with the drivers, and the linux distro won't need the drives, so that's one more step towards the right direction...

Good luck

thanks for the help but i have no idea what that means. i think im going to take it into the sprint store and have them fix it if i didnt **** my warranty up

Okay, I'll try to expand on it to make it a bit easier (again, all of this might not even work, but this is what I'd try at this point)

(You haven't tried it on a different computer have you?)

1. Remove the SD card from your phone. This is a (micro|mini) sd card. You'll likely need an adapter to connect it to your computer.

2. Download a linux live cd. This is an Operating System (for your computer) that runs off of a cd. Try this one http://http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

3. Okay, now you'll want to burn this to a CD. I usually use ImgBurn. It's free.

4. Now, you need to turn off you computer with the Disk in the CD drive. Then press whatever button your BIOS needs to boot from CD.

5. You'll load the live CD, and get a menu that asks you what you want to do. DONT pick install (unless you plan to install the linux distro), instead pick the LIVE cd option (could say something like "Try out first").

6. Now, put in the SD card. A window file manager will open up. Then, hit CRTL + T. This will open a new tab (like firefox!). Now in the new tab click the hard drive (computer) icon in the left side of the window. From there you should be in the C:\ on your computer. Find your PC36IMG.zip file (probably in My Documents) and copy it to the SD card.

If the SD card doesn't work, put it back in your phone and try the USB method (doing everything else the same).

If that doesn't work, well, at least you tried.

I hope that was explained a little better for you, and that you find this post before your trip to Sprint.
