Help phone heats up...update?

Im on day 3 with my new at&t note and i love it. But....its gets pretty hot...i know its mostly because the screen and i always have that really low but even when im running some stupid app it gets hot. Now i know all phones get hot with extended use. I just came from the s2 and im not use to this heat. Is there an update available somewhere? Firmware is up to date. Ink is anyone else having this problem?

My phone has been getting hot lately as well. (US Galaxy Note) It seems to happen only if I'm switching between a lot of apps constantly. Doesn't happen everyday, more like once or twice a week.

The reason is because of the default CPU governor. The stock kernel uses an On-demand profile.

Install CPUSpy and you will see what I mean: the phone either will sit at low speed or ramp up to full 1400MHz.

Installing a custom kernel (I've found Franco and SpeedMod to be the best for coolness) and running SetCPU with a different governor does wonders.

Interesting thing is Franco kernel uses On Demand as default but CPUSpy shows the phone rarely ever hit 1400MHz. Franco's approach is to use both cores which seems like a battery waste but in fact is the opposite. Each core is not needing to ramp up all the time and the result is less heat and great battery life.
