Help Phone keeps rebooting.

did you try master reseting it.

1.Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.

2.Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.

3.Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.

4.Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

I already figured it out. It wasn't anything software related at all.

It was my power button and It's interaction with a tight silicon case.

Thanks though! =]

I'm not going to use a screen protector at all. The gorilla glass is pretty durable and I have had no problems with my triumph. If anything does happen I'll just have virgin mobile replace it haha

I don't think that it's the actual power button being overly sensitive, anyone who has one can see that instead of actually pressing the button you're actually pressing on a nub built into the cover. I think that manufacturing tolerances are to blame. Try sending the underside of the nub a bit. Hope that works for you girl, I know what you went through to get the damn thing. :( ps: don't get your screen protector at BB, all they sell are Zaggs which will ruin the feeling of the touch screen, try getting an Armor shield from Amazon, much better imho.

i think he meant "Try sanding the underside of the nub a bit."
and i was going to suggest this also :D

yeah... i have a "before it was released" OV with no scratches on it and i believe it has a plastic screen on it so..... i think i'll be ok without a screen protector.... maybe i'm just really nice to my electronics

man i wish i can this phone in newark nj :(

There was none to be found here in my area either. No stores got it at all.

I pre-ordered all the way back on the 22nd and literally had to wait until the 4th before I got mine. All the while some stores were getting theirs before the pre-orders were filled...

It was hectic.

It'll be showing up in the stores soon...

Some Radio Shacks are getting them on days they don't normally get shipments. So if you are waiting for their next one, don't.

Also, check, as many zip codes in the area you are willing to drive and look for some in stock. It may show up in inventory a day or two before the store actually gets it (the website must show inventory based on outgoing shipments).

If you are willing, you should be able to find one within an hours drive or so.

I don't have a case on mine and I feel like it still randomly reboots at times for no apparent reason. I'v also had a few freezes in the begining but they seem to not be happening as much anymore. When it does freeze you have to remove the battery and put it back in.

Initial first adjustments to the new software perhaps?

Mine has rebooted once without anything being on the power button. I think it had to do with the fact that my 4G kept dropping signal.

So now when I'm in an area with little to no 4G, I just run it off 3G only. Seems to be going strong now.

My fiancee has an Atrix and that phone reboots quite a bit. Sense and Blur are both resource heavy UI's. That might be a culprit too.

Me too. I live in Newark and I'm trying to decide where I should get Tue phone from. Usually buy my stuff at bestbuy. Gonna get it at bestbuy radioshack or cm directly soon. Do you guys know of any good deals that I can get or where I don't have to pay tax.

I have had my evo for about two days and is rebooted about15 times with no cause. It's very frustrating because I love the phone but for some reason it reboots all the time randomly. Does anyone know what I should do? I'm freaking out! Btw I got my phone from virgin mobile's website and it is Sprint branded.

Call them and request another. It's defective.

It's definitely defective. Did you install any apps? Does your signal fluctuate? Did you have any activation issues?

Just being curious. Mine reboots once in a while. I've narrowed it down to my signal and it's fluctuation. It'll generally do it after getting no bars for a few seconds.

Id give a hard reset a try and then go the return route if that doesnt help.

You obviously have something wrong with your phone. Mine has not rebooted at all and I've had it for a week. My Triumph used to reboot randomly all the time until I put CM7 on. But that was a software issue. Yours sounds like a hardware issue (since we have the same software and mine doesn't have that issue).

Having the same software doesn't mean it's guaranteed to run exactly the same on all phones

They rushed the flashing of Virgin Mobile software on these phones. I'm sure there may have made some errors.

I really think these reboots are caused by a bug that's more prevalent in some phones. I'm thinking it's got something to do with the way the signal fluctuates.

Mine will reboot when it stays with no bars for more than a few seconds. =\

No my signal is fine most of the time like last night I woke up 3 times to my phone's boot animation music because it was rebooting just sitting there. It had the same signal strength (good in my house) the whole night. Ive downloaded quite a few apps :netflix, surfline, angry birds space, pandora, temple run, zynga poker, chrome beta, speed test, speed ex 3d, volume widget, battery widget, astro file manager. My activation went surprisingly well... I called VM and they took my serial number told me to turn the phones off for 20 minutes then it was activated.

What about the switching of 3G to 4G? I've noticed mine reboots when they alternate too often. Perhaps it's not the signal after all. It's the switching from 3G to 4G repetitively.

My Motorola Defy used to reboot or freeze up too when going from 3G to 1x. *.*

My evo was running fine yesterday... I do have a case on mine... Today, anytime I put it into my pocket I would hear the startup music. Thinking that it is my Acase. Decided to exacto out the rubber where the power button is. Not my power button is sunken from the case and protected from accidental presses. We'll see how it reacts over the next couple days. HOPEFULLY that was the issue... Really love this phone otherwise.

If anyone else, is looking for a case the ACASE from amazon is supereasy to remove the power button rubber to prevent accidental presses.

I've only had one random reboot and that was when I had no signal from a tower transfer and I tried to open up Navigation and it must have felt invaded and just reboot on me. That's the only time, and Ive had the phone for 5 days now.

I have 30 days to return it so maybe it will work its self out.

Okay. It kept doing it. I took the case off and the phone feels much cooler on the back. It's also not having any of those minor freezes either.

My Atrix used to reboot because it would overheat a lot. I do play with this phone a lot....

You can download a widget called Battery Solo and it will tell you the battery percent and temp. The temps on androids can get ridiculous. My OV has gotten to 105 but it didn't shut down. Actually the operating specs should be in the manual. I'll find out what the max temp is

I've officially had my Evo V now randomly turn itself on, when just sitting on a table... [battery went from 100% to 0% after turning on] I shut the phone completely down upon entering work this morning, only to press the button to turn on, to get 0% battery remaining... really starting to hate this phone.

Shutting the phone down doesn't actually turn it off, it only goes into hibernation.

A good way to see this is do a shutdown, then power it on, timing it, then try a restart. Restart will take FAR longer. To really turn the phone off, you have to shut it down, then pull the battery.

The reason it came back on is you have an app that is waking it, which is probably also hurting your battery life.

No idea what is with your battery though.
