Root Phone rooted process complete, what now?

Set your google account up, then Fix Permissions using ROM Manager. After that setup the phone to your liking. Once you've done that, Battery Calibration and you're good to go. :)

How important is the Battery Calibration?

My battery was good before as i juice defender so would re-downloading that be just as good?

It's not essential, but I'd recommend it. What it does is set a precedent on the phone so it knows what full and empty is. The process and a bit of explanation is here.

okay, will look into it tomorrow aslong as there is no immediate rush?

Thankyou very much for all of your help :D

Thanks again!

you're my htc hero ;)

UH OH! The power button suddenly stopped working as select and was working as show/hide screen and was alternating between the 2, but now it has gone off (not entirely) and won't come back on....

I realise that you're all sorted now, but I don't think that this is too much of an issue - I've had similar happen to me a couple of times (I think when I've flashed a kernel), but if you wait a couple of mins, then it tends to start working again!

Bah your too quick El P at converting these neophytes to CM lol ;) I swear both guides using it is a conspiracy haha :D

If you do fancy backing up CM and trying out a good Sense based ROM ARHD is packed in here all ready to try:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1152488646/ARHD.zip which has installation guide included as well as the most popular add-ons and an easy to use radio installer.

Haven't used a Sense ROM in AGES... might give it a go over the weekend though... think I'll still go back to CM7 (just love it)! :)

appreciate all the help guys, not sure what to do now...

what apps to buy and how to make the most of CM7 because first impressions without anything added is that i preferred my old ROM, prior to rooting.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Take a look through there, see if there are any apps that you like the look of. Admittedly I didn't like CM7 to start off with, but it grows on you.

Alternatively, you could look at the ARHD ROM pack Stu posted above, it's the ROM you had on before, but with a few changes and all the tasty benefits of root access.

For the ARHD ROM, is there steps to follow? Or will it now be easier now i have done it before?

Should be easier now you've done it before, although Stu's ROM pack has an installation guide included.

Have a read and let us know if you get stuck.

GOLauncher has salvaged this ROM - it's fantastic way of editing everything!
