Help Phone shutting itself off after froyo update...Help!

I recently installed the 2.2 froyo rom on my huawei ascend. All was fine. Then I tinkered with it to fix the mms issues. It didnt work out, so I reset back to factory, cleared ALL caches and reinstalled the same 2.2 rom. Now it reboots itself periodically. I can be in the middle of a text or email or anything on it, and it will reboot. The only thing different this time is the APN settings that I put in to work with the data. It has not shut down during a call, but it is still inconvenient as h***. Can anyone please advise as to what may be causing this? I like the 2.2 and I really dont want to reinstall as I would loose everything. It's almost like it doesnt have enough memory, but there seems to be plenty. Thanks for any help that may come my way.
 
WHICH 2.2 ROM might we be referring to? There are at least 3 known ROMs that could fit this description, so any specific info would be helpful.

This is the link that I used. Android version 2.2.1, baseband version 22201003, kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf, build number FRG83.

You said there were two that were crap, can you tell me which one is not? When I initially installed it the first time, I had no issues, this time there are definite issues.

You need the CM6 2.2 rom. There is a thread about it in all things root sub forum.

By the way incase you don't know there is already a 2.3 rom, CM7
