Root Phone will not wipe data...

EFoxwell

Lurker
My incredible was running virtuous 3.2 with a few little things (splash of blue theme, rotary lock screen, custom boot screen). I went to swap to another rom and when I wiped data and cache and the phone came back on, i still had virtuous and all my apps were gone. I tried a hard reset and no matter what i do it will not remove the rom. Anyone have any ideas?

I know it's a stupid question, but I just want to make sure as you didn't mention it in your OP. Are you flashing another ROM after doing your wipes? If you're not you're just wiping Virtuous clean every time you wipe.

Just wiping does not get rid of the rom, you have to load a new one.

The only way to get rid of the rom it to flash another one. Factory reseting just restores the ROM to like it was just installed.

Sorry guys, yes, I believe I am. I'm pretty new to ROM's but I have done it a few times using the clockwork mod app. I was trying to flash Uncommon Sense since I hadn't tried it and that was when I realized I couldn't flash anything. I tried old backups of skyraider and shadow rom and nothing....

And also, factory reset isn't removing everything. it is wiping app data but leaving folders with the name of the app where it was and its leaving my boot screen and wallpaper which its never done before.

I would suggest doing your wipes and flashing manually through recovery. ROM Manager causes too many problems, IMO. If you aren't comfortable flashing/wiping things manually, search here or xda for a guide.

That worked. I usually use ROM manager because I'm lazy. lol. Doig it manually fixed it and the same rom is running noticably better. I've had no problems since I did it yesterday afternoon. I've heard that Rom Manager is like banging screws with a hammer.
