Well the article makes sense to me. It seems to clearly illustrate the issue and explain why it happens. I can't see any way it could be stated any better. For me its a non-issue. I have never run into that until i visited the link you posted. And i've browsed all over the web. If it bothers you then return it and see if the next one does the same thing. Personally it doesn't bother me at all. Expecially after reading that article.

Ok there seems to be two issues at hand here.

1. The browser (possibly a few other elements of Android) rendering certain shades of gray with a slight pink tint. This happens on all phones as far as I have read and is most definitely something software-related since it seems to appear in the emulator. Honestly, this isn't a big deal.

2. Some phones have screens with a very red white balance at brightness levels around or below 50%. This effects the entire phone as seen here: xda-developers - View Single Post - Why my AMOLED has pinkish tint (Answer inside) - UPDATED

Hopefully this clears things up.

I do video color correction for a living in Hollywood. The screen drove me crazy for about 6 hours. Then I got over it. It's the screen technology...not the apps or the browser, or anything else. Any further posts are senseless. Really.

Guys,

I just got my phone today, and I to have the slight pink hue to my screen.
I went on another forum I post on and the mail app, and it has a pink hue.
Just called Verizon, and had their tech dept test two phones, and they said
there was no pink tint or hue, that they could see. So I guess the question
now is, what to do?

I wonder if HTC got their shipments mixed up with the new HTC Droid Paris Hiltons coming out in May?

;):p

Mine sure "does not" have the pink issue, but comparing the same screen brightness on htc.com with a friends INC, his certainly does, so no they are not all like that.

So is everyone that is having this pink hue/tint issue, keeping their phone??

Any chance this could be a software issue and not hardware?

**UPDATE

I changed my brightness to high, and also tried on automatic.

The pink hue went away. I only get the pink hue when my brightness is below 50%.

you need a 3rd option .

1 its pink
2 its not pink
3 "can't tell" , maybe your colored blind.

Sadly im 98% colored blind.

Can you describe pink to me ? ;)

Got a load of pictures coming up, all compared to my Moto Droid.

Both are set on auto brightness, although I did take a few of the

with the brightness all the way up on the Droid INC.

Here are all the pictures.

(BTW, I did not take the film off because I may send it back for an exchange)

Another good test is to simply browse to here, androidforums.com and look at all the lightly blue-gray shaded areas.

This site looks like it's barbieforums.com on my phone.

Yup just tired that. It looks the same as the Watch forum I post on and
belong to. The gray does look very soft pink..

I really have no idea what to do. I got my phone though a 3rd party, so

exchanging it is a pain in the butt, and then what if the next one is like this.

But I also hate to be stuck with a phone that has a faulty screen (If the case)

Damn. Mine has the same problem below 50%. I really don't want to turn this phone in, but I hate having to run it at 100% just to display white colors and kill battery. I wonder how painless Best Buy would make it if I tried to do an exchange.

I'm sure a lot more painless then my exchange would be :(
