If you are on the stock ROM you can keep the modem you are on. You will have to download the ROM to your phone and then odin install a kernel with recovery. Boot into the recovery and use it to flash the zip of the ROM. Take your time and read the OP for the ROM you want, and follow those instructions. Check out the One Stop shop that is a sticky at the top of this forum (you past it to get here). It has lots of info and links to get you to what you need.

I think he means why do you have to go through all theses steps just to turn your phone into a voided warrenty. Personnelly I agree so many things has to be done just to flash a simple rom its annoying. I wanted to try the goodness rom but I have to flash a kernel a modem and yhen the rom boot back into it flash more crap then watch it take forevet to come up -.-
Then by any means the possble brick your phone the brand new 400 $ epic 4g touch all because you wanted some different flavors. Untill one clickers come to aosp and aokp roms im sticking yo only stock one clicks. I rather have a phone then a nice paper weights

I get what your saying but myself and most others like flashing through recovery. You have to understand how stuff works to see its not complicated. Every phone is put together different.

On the s2 Recoveries are inside of kernels. Kernels come inside of every rom. But most of the time you're told to flash el26 or 29 to avoid the emmc superbrick bug. Modems do not flash with roms. Any gb or ics modem works with any non tw jb rom. Aosp jb roms dont even require u to flash a modem unless your leaving a jb rom.

From stock all u have to do is boot into recovery wipe data and caches the flash safe recovery. Reboot recovery flash rom. Then gapps and reboot. Literally takes 2 minutes after everything is on your sd card. Is it really that bad or can we just assume the people who find it complicated just won't take the time to learn.

Simply put I could've flashed 5 or more roms in the time it took me to type this. Just follow instructions on the op and you'll see how easy it is

I do like the One click installs, but Flashing by recovery is not hard and has the really nice ability of being able to switch ROMs without having to have a pc, and that does rock. I flashed a new ROM while sitting in an airport.

I feel that if someone finds reading the instructions and doing the steps to flash a ROM too complicated, then that person just should not be messing with their phone like that anyway.

I used a 1 click to install this GA10 im running, is there other 1 clicks like this?

Yeah it is, and if you are already running GA10 you can to the no data one click. That way all your apps and settings will remain (makes it like getting an OTA). I have liked all the leaks from FK23 on up, and they got even smoother once you got to the GA10, GB08, and GB27.

Okay, even though you found what you like, i will explain the process of recovery flashing in detail so you can get an Aosp or Aokp roms. (this is just a general tutorial. read the install instructions on a rom.)

Step 1: Download the rom and Gapps.

Step 2: Confirm the downloaded rom is for your phone (I bricked my ZTE Warp because i didn't.)

Step 3: Put the rom and Gapps on your SD card or phone memory

Step 4: Download a Safe recovery ( here's a good one)

Step 5: Turn on your phone normally

Step 6: Go to backup and restore and select "Backup"

Step 7: select "Wipe data/factory reset"

Step 8: go to "install zip from sdcard" and select your rom

Step 9: Go to "advanced" and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"

Step 10: Go to "install zip from sdcard" again and install the Gapps

Step 11: Reboot

Do you know where I can find some sort of changelog from ga10 to gb27?

There really isn't one but ga10 was 2 leaks ago. From what ive heard and seen most of the improvements are battery, signal, data speed, and smoothness. Not much change in looks

And at first all this odin crap was crazy but with help from here and alot of reading. now with mobile odin installed on my s2 i can go from rom to rom to rom without ever touching my pc. which to me is a plus caus i have always hated pc restoring. Was alot to learn this new phone but well worth the task.

It's really the modem things that get me, like if you are running GA10 with a JB modem you have to first flash a different modem or soemthing then you can install a rom and stuff....

Having the wrong modem wont stop the rom from flashing u just wont have data/3g until u flash the right one
