Root Please Help! (Linux)

You're posting in the entirely wrong forum, then - I can help you with this, but because it would take a large chunk out of my day, it wouldn't be free. Do not use the guide I posted - you will brick your phone.

Your other option is to find help in the sensation forum or to ask the Unlimited team to help you.

Ok thanks anyway.

I posted in here because the error/issue was the same.

I can tell you now that if you can't find a Windows version of Unlimited's software for that phone, you need to get the CD booting up. A virtual machine is a terrible idea for issuing low level commands (which is what the S-OFF procedure will be doing). You can try googling around to figure out how to make that work, but depending on the version of Windows you have & your motherboard specs, it will vary. Inevitably, you need to change some settings in your BIOS or EFI to make it work.

Yeah I've been looking around but honestly the amount of time and aggro I've wasted trying to do this I'm just going to pay the bloody fee to unlock it.

If ControlBear was still available on windows then I'd probably get it working.

I have the windows version of Control bear. I can confirm it works on windows 7- 64 bit machine.( So take that unlimited...lol) Pm me if you need it. And someone let me know if its not kosher to distribute. I am not a beginner by any means and I found the linux way a bit confusing to me as well.. I held on to the windows version and it works fine using Harmonia as a base

Sent you a PM thanks.

thanks for posting that Remanifest. You should post that in your guide. IMO its a lot easier for most to just use the windows version.

The version that pertains to our phones is in my guide, and has been since I first authored it

Ok so I ran it but got this error:

C:\ControlBear_Win>controlbear

The bootloader is unlocked using HTCDev and I confirmed I'm rooted via the root check app.

4.25GB used on the SD card and 9.9GB free so it won't be a space issue ?

Ok will try another formatted SD card, anything else to try ?

Ok a fresh formatted SD card gave me progress !

But now I'm stuck with juopunutbear splash screen and this error:

Do not remove sdcard from phone
Do wire-trick now!! Check the instructions at Unlimited.IO

I'm guessing wire trick hasn't worked so will run again.

Ok thanks I'll see if that can get me fixed but I am using a sensation with HBoot 1.27.

I think the problem is there's too many threads/methods out there, I wish I'd just called tmobile and paid the fee !

Just a little friendly advice, if you are going to post in a root forum other than your device's root forum, you should probably make it clear up front so that people don't give you files to flash that could potentially brick your phone ;)

I realize your initial issue was more of a universal control bear issue, but that's just my $.02.

Thanks, I think the amount of info and threads out there is a bit overwhelming and it seems like due to the various methods for rooting, s-off etc. confusion is easily achieved.

I'm wishing I'd just contact T Mobile a couple of days ago for an unlock code and paid the thieving bastards !
