Root Please help me choose rom/kernel

given the criteria (it was ctmod until the last 2), i would say http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...anogenmod-7-unofficial-beta-5-02-20-12-a.html with Kato Kernel Beta 0.4 for CM7 with sd-ext

Really that's somewhat of a personal question though... everyone has different preferences, and with so many great rom choices it would probably benefit you to try out several.

Edit: On second thought, you might even like http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...432614-rom-gb-2-3-6-ctmod-3-3-03-17-12-a.html with http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/429740-kernel-gb-koumakernel-2-4-a.html and enable "Mount SD-EXT as /data partition"

I was actually leaning towards ctmod 3.3, but saw that koumakernel 2.4 just came out. Can the updated kernel be put into ctmod?

Also, is there a link on how to do the "Mount SD-EXT as /data partition"?

Thanks

Don't be surprised if you install the latest KoumaKernel or KatoKernel and your phone can't handle 946MHz . There are quite a few of us in here who's phones can not handle it turned all the way up . Mine runs great at 900MHz and yet others can only run at 800MHz . Just start turning it up slowly . If your phone starts crashing , just dial the MHz back a little until you find a setting that your phone likes . They both are excellent kernels and you can't go wrong with either one of them . ;)

I did a detailed rundown on setting ctmod up in the happy birthday to me thread with an update on kk 2.4

To elaborate, flash the rom zip, then flash the kernel zip afterwards. And to mount the /data to sd card:

Back up everything you can to your computer

If not partitioned already, Partition the SD card with CWM (make sure swap is set to 0 if your going the /data option)

Flash the two zips, rom then kernel, then reboot normally

open File explorer, and make sure "root explorer" is checked in settings (it usually is)

Click the dropdown menu that says internal/mnt/sdcard, and change it to "internal"

Scroll down to the "system" folder

Click menu, more, mount R/W

open the file named "koumamod", then click text, then file explorer

delete the # from the beginning of the line directly below "mount SD-ext as /data partition, AKA the line listed below

# mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /data rw noatime nosuid nodev barrier=0 data=writeback nobh nodiratime noauto_da_alloc

hit back button, make sure it saves successfully, then reboot.
