I received my HTC Evo V about a month ago. I rooted it within a few days. I did not install any custom roms though, kept it stock. For the next three weeks, I had between 5 and 6 bars almost all the time. About 5 days ago, my signal dropped from 5 to 6 bars to 1 to 2 bars almost all the time. I have been in the same areas of the city like I was in the past 3 weeks. I called Virgin Mobile and they said that there were no network issues or towers down. They checked my coverage map of where I am and they said since I live in a area with fair signal, there was nothing they could do. I am frustrated that the signal dropped all of a sudden, I am continuing to get 1 to 2 bars and with that, my internet speed are super slow. When I was getting 5 to 6 bars, my internet speeds varied from 1 to 2 mb download, which I was very happy with. When I rooted, I first did a backup, I do recall about a week ago, I did a prl update in settings and before that, I did that 4g faster instruction thread around that time too. Yesterday, I restored my backup I did when I first rooted and I still have 1 to 2 bars, same as I did before I restored.

Is there anthing I can do to get my signal strength back to where it was before?? Would there be something wrong with my phone?? Would a custom rom help with this issue?? I am thourghly confused. Any light anyone can shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Try going into the settings app, then go to system updates, after that update your profile, and your prl.

I went into settings, system updates, update profile and prl, didnt seem to help at all. Thanks for the suggestion though.
