Please post here when you receive ics ota

To all those inquiring, SPECTRUM ICS is here!! just got my update @ 1:30PM on 10/23/12... Works just like the V7_05 leak without "Wiper FC" and random reboot and data drop off! Bootloader is locked however, I was able to use ALL IN ONE SPECTRUM TOOL W/ CWM 6.0.1.0. and run ADB and Flash Super User. so although there's no Root per se, I can teether and use apps with SU permissions. Can't wait till CM9 gets MMS, & Data working!! pLEASE POST YOURS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE TO YOU
As a new user I can't post images yet.. but see for yourself.. My update took and grabbed the V6B then took the V7 update!

I used the LG recovery tool last night to get to 2.3.6/V6. I was having a 2.3.5/V6 issue using the V4 restore via cwm.
 
Question for the devs. You know who you are..this includes you neph! :) ...are any of you taking the update? I know I asked you guys last week but am just curious. Now is there a possible work around for the bootloader?

you have to use the lgmobile support tool! i was having the same issue as you and then tried that and worked the first time! make sure your battery has a decent charge first or it wont let you update.

It taste rather good! mhmm! yes!! rather splendid day indeed. :D
 
So, had some fairly serious issues at first.
At the first OTA (small one, 20MB or so) phone was basically bricked.
Bootloop to touch CMW. Trying to recover with the stock recovery tool (KP-500 tool by Blackhorn) was total fail.
Ended up having to use the CMW stock recovery method posted by Neph over on Android Central. Thanks Neph, you've been a life saver on many occasions, lol.
Am now finally getting going with the 530.xx MB download via VZW software upgrade assistant. We'll see how this goes..... (crossing fingers)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ICS! :D

And just FYI, I also had problems with the OTA. It failed multiple times before I gave up on it and used the Verizon Upgrade Assistant.
 
So even though there is no root, you are saying you can use apps that require SU permission. Does that mean you can delete apps that can't be disabled also? Or would you need full root for that?
 
On v7 now. Had to use the update tool because the ota would fail everytime. Seems to be running ok but media scan took forever the first go. I experienced a ton of lag at first as well. Took quite a while before it leveled out and now it seems to run super smooth.

So far it seems fine but I haven't messed with it to much yet.

You are definitely going to have to root if you want to freeze the bloat because the built in disable feature doesn't work on most of it. The option to disable has been removed.

I'm going to be trying jcase method for rooting soon and I'll also try out foxfi

OTA update or using LG tools?

Please let us know if that app works for root. I would like to get rid of all this other crap you can't disable Lol.
 
used the JCases ICS root method.. or the INTUITION root with ADB.. you must use ADB with the command prompt to unlock the boot loader then I used All in one spectrum tool and "Root & cwm recovery" I have screen shots and can provide help if anyone is interested. wyarsp9@natlcollege.edu
 
So far so good! Running smooth, no lag, everything seems to work!

Side note, the replacement power supply I ordered yesterday from Newegg for my PC arrived today just got that up and running too...it's been a banner day!! :D

What commands are used to unlock the bootloader? Also where is this all in one tool?

I think he misspoke or is confused.... The all in one tool can't unlock the bootloader, because the device wasn't previously locked, so that program has no function to do so.

Sounds like it. Would that all in one tool still root the device and install CWM?
