Root please someone help me

Damn work blocking file sharing sites lol, what do they think im going to do? dl stuff for my phone and play with it all day instead of working?
 
Yeah, sorry, it's the link in my sig. Just follow the instructions there. Interesting that ROM Manager doesn't have 2.6.0.1 available anymore. I wonder why.
 
I mostly use rom manager to view/delete/rename my backups, and dl some roms. I do my back up manually and flash manually. Its just a convenient piece of software to view and manage what ive got on my phone and thats all i use it for. Im actually more comfortable with the recovery itself.
 
yeah that is weird seeing as its more "universal". Why let you flash a 2.5. that wont back up wimax and 3.0 that wont work with amend...odd. trying to force you to go to edify but they still offer 2.5, who knows. I may have edify and amend reversed it doesnt matter lol.

You have it right. Amend is old, and supported by 2.6.0.1 and under. Edify is new, and is supported by 2.5.0.1 and up, and is the only thing supported by 3.0.0.x.
 
if 2.5 supports both amend and edify, why can i not restore a 2.5 back up in 2.6 or 3.0? obviously i wont have wimax backed up in 2.5 and will be switching to 2.6 when i get home but where is the issue with restoring a 2.5 with 2.6 or 3.0? will it lose the keys since they werent backed up? Its not a problem lol i'll just flash 2.6 and make a back up of my current config, delete the 2.5 and it'll be all good, just curious for knowledge sake i guess.

I guess it doesn't really matter. It's just that they don't back up the same things now, and I'm not *exactly* sure what will happen if you restore an older backup that doesn't have wimax. It would probably be fine, but if you haven't made that many backups with 2.5.0.x yet, but save yourself the trouble, and switch to 2.6.0.1, and remake your backup.
