Poor radios?

I talked to Samsung a few weeks ago and they said that this issue is a known issue and it seems to be caused by a script or coding that interferes with the 3G/4G handoff and causes the phone to lose signal when waking from idle or in just random areas. They are working on a patch that will be pushed to all of the phones, including the ones that don't have any issues, to hopefully fix the problem. When I talked to him he said we were looking at the end of August to get the update.

Not saying I don't believe you, but this issue has been around since December (though the ones I talked to claim they have no knowledge of the issue). If they are just now working on it, I don't foresee a fix that soon.

I need to get out of the house more often. I'm seeing 4 bars of 4g and a seamless switch to 3g when I went into a tunnel. No signal at home but I would use Wi-Fi there anyway.

I'm not having frequent random data drops like some others. For me, it's mainly weak 3G/CDMA radio in VZW Gnex that I'm unhappy about reception. 3G speed is just too slow in weak areas though LTE works well in good 4G areas.

I think further radio update might help those with bad random data/call drops but not so optimistic if it can improve 3G strength. Via CDMA modem in it is just subpar.
