Root {PORT} Behold 2 Stock ( No Twiz w/ Root & Busybox )

Thank you BH_MAN for this excellent build 1.5 (No Twiz w/ Root & Busybox) for the Behold 2. I got here via this Galaxy build forum (http://androidforums.com/all-things...t-galaxy-behold-2-123-install-done-right.html) first. I originally installed that earlier (1.5) Galaxy build, but later found that I could get vibrate working, with the speed of the Galaxy build, if I went with the No Twiz w/ Root & Busybox build discussed in this forum. I restored my phone back to the original build and then did this update.

One suggestion - I'd update the OP of the Galaxy forum to suggest this build as another option for Behold 2 users who want a speedy and clean Android build that retains the vibrate feature and Behold 2 camera. I also considered the 1.6 Galaxy build discussed in this forum, but w/o the vibrate feature I had to decided to not go in that direction. There are so many options, discussed in a variety of forums, that this can be confusing to a new Android user.

Thanks again and I look forward to future updates.

I like this 1.5 better then the 1.6 just released looks beter keeps root no problems. My questionis if I keep this version will I still get the ota when tmobile pushes it out? Because the op says with update? Does that mean when I receive the ota it will revert back to stock? I would assume. Thanks bhman for the roms

There was an update by Samsung/TMo to fix bugs a while back. To check if you have the update go to the regular settings menu and go down to About phone and look to see if the Baseband is T939UVJA3. that was the update.

Also No you will not receive any new updates that TMo will send out using this Rom. In order to get any updates you would need to Odin back to stock. Or wait for a post on this board (Like I did) :D

Generally speaking, staying with 1.5 is very limiting: No navigation in Maps, no updated Marketplace, less apps than 1.6, and a number of apps in Marketplace that SHOULD be marked 1.6 not working in 1.5

I personally never had any issues with the stock Behold II, though after running all three versions of 1.6, I can honestly say that there's absolutely no way I'd ever go back to 1.5 (T-Wiz or otherwise)

(Personally, I'd have marked this thread as "Depreciated" after R4 or R5 had been released ;->)

Why is everyone downloading this 1.5 rom over BHMAN's Behold2 1.6 rom?Am i missing something?'

I can only guess first this one has been out a lot longer. I put this on my phone because it was solid. When BH_MAN works out a couple of bugs on the 1.6 then I am all over it:D

EDIT: ignore, wrong thread

Since installing this awesome ROM, I seemed to have lost the ability to choose where to send a picture after I take it.

Normally a thingy would popup prompting me to choose facebook/twidroid/mms/picasa(i think) and now it's just taking me straight to compose a message in MMS.

I made sure the apps were running, not sure if that matters but seemed obvious enough, I normally use twidroid but i installed seesmic and rebooted etc and still no dice.

Not sure if it's a bug or something on my end, but thought I'd mention it Justin Case.

I'm new to this board and rom development for the BH II, but not Android itself. I currently have a Mytouch 3G that I've rooted using both the "one click" method and goldcard. I understand the process for the BH II is slightly different and done mostly through ADB which also isn't an issue.

My friend has a BH II that I'm looking to root for her and load either the stock "tweaked rom" or the 1.6 donut rom. Before I do either, I'm just curious if it's worth it on this device.

I'm really wondering about the speed increase and the responsiveness of the keyboard on a rooted BH vs. a stock one. Stock BH's are terrible, probably the worst Android device made to date. Does rooting these phones really make them faster, less buggy, and increase accuracy/speed with the keyboard or are there other keyboards that can be loaded on the phone besides the stock one?

The BH2 is really great Hardware.... Just the OS is Crappy, Really Depends what your looking for in a Rom...

Do your tweaks speed the phone up any? The main thing I hate is the keyboard! It absolutely sucks and isn't accurate at all. Are there any improvements here? Also, how about increasing the number of home screens to more than 3?

I'm on XDA Developers and have flashed numerous roms on my Mytouch 3G. Everything ranging from highly optimized 1.6 roms, 2.1 roms with Nexus 1 launcher, Sense 2.1 roms and so forth. Almost all of these made a very noticeable difference over the speed of a stock Mytouch. Since Im new to BH II roms, Im not sure what all the advantages are and if its worth it.

Well, there is a Huge speed increase regarding all those things Mentioned...
If you're a Fellow XDA'er.... Then you likely have ran one of my Rom ( Eugene373) if so, you would likely know I don't produce Crap rom's... I always test unless it's something everyone has been waiting for..

In short, yes, it is absolutely worth the effort.

I got my Behold II as a warranty replacement for my blackberry 8900 (sadly), and the default UI/OS (namely the touchwiz and cube shit) make the phone unusably slow.

I put on the Galaxy 1.6 R8 and also this one and both showed a drastic improvement over the true stock. Between the two, I think the r8 was maaaybe a little speedier, but the replacement home apps with the stock behold II are kinda nice so really you can't go wrong with either.

Typing on the phone, I will admit, is still something of a struggle for me but getting replacement keyboards (namely the HTC keyboard) and using Swype have made things a lot easier. Truthfully between the two, Swype seems to give be the least annoying way for me to input because even with the new ROM, the phone still can't keep up with my fingers.

(I also have an itouch so I am pretty proficient on a TS even in portrait so the touch screen itself is not so much the issue, just the responsiveness)

I'm a super noob, but im pretty sure you don't need to actually root your phone to flash it, and that the rom you will be flashing is already pre-rooted.

Having said that, it's pretty easy if you wanted to for fun but not necessary.

As someone who has been an android owner for like 5 days, it's super easy and makes the phone experience a lot more enjoyable, but don't expect miracles with the keyboard. (PS This particular rom has the HTC keyboard by default so you won't need to do anything extra to add a better one)

Yes, I've ran some of your roms from XDA. I had no idea you're Eugene. I follow your work on Twitter as well.

From the pics that are posted, it appears you changed the app drawer from the side to the bottom like the MT3G and G1. In your opinion, what is the best BH II rom you have out? I'd prefer to run a 1.6 rom on this phone, but I also want speed and stability. The stock phone is just too slow and Samsung has too much crap like the 3D box, Touchwiz, and all the other unnecessary stuff that cannot be removed unless otherwise rooted.

Has anyone figured out a way to increase the number of homescreens?

Any of the 1.6 would be Fine.... I wouldn't go with the Factory Rom I posted then, sounds like you're not a fan of twiz..

All the latest build include Advance Launcher which you can adjust to 7 to 9 home screen's if you would like... But, which is the best? really depends on the user's.

If you like plain jane android, then the Galaxy build would likely better suite you... If you like the BH2 Rom, but want a rid of the TwLauncher, then the No Twiz rom might better suite you if you like the Camera app..

is there a way to add the samsung camera app to Galaxy? or any other option that we can use full 5mp for the camera we have?

No. BH_Man has stated in the past that it's not possible.

If you want 1.6 + Samsung Camera, you'll need to install either Behold 2 1.6 Stock or Behold 2 1.6 No-TWiz (the one I use)

These also both support vibrate on the phone.

No, you never ever have to root before flashing a ROM.

However, this thread is way out of date. This is for Android 1.5, not the Android 1.6 Official update (or rooted version of that)
