Root Ported Roms

Thinking of flashing a ported rom (RCMixHD v3.0 or iNsertcoin). New to this scene. Are there any common issues when flashing ported roms? Is there anything in particular that i need to be aware of before flashing???

With some ROMS more than others. I don't know if this is common, but I had real problems flashing iNsert Coin 1.9b/c. Boot loops and found the rom slow and unstable anyway (worse than normal sense). Whereas, I have never had an issue flashing a Miui / Oxygen ROM.
