I made the mistake of jumping the gun today and installed the leaked "official" froyo update.
Since then my battery life has gone from decent on 2.1 to absolutely terrible on 2.2. To put it in perspective -- my battery went from 66% to 18% in 30 minutes with no clear or obvious reason why.
I reset my phone and reinstalled only the apps that i use often and it's the same. However, I went to the movies tonight and figured I would try the turn off background data thing while I was in the theater since I didnt need to use my EVO. Surprisingly, when I did that, it seemed that the battery life was fine. I had 35% going into the theater and 32% coming out of a 2 hour movie.
I ran that system panel and the other app mentioned in this thread and it seems that the highest CPU process is android system info. The highest mem process is android.process.acore. I'm not sure what any of that means, but I also tried the GSM / CDMA / Update PRL trick just now to see if that has any effect. Hopefully, it does!
Is there a way to go back to 2.1?
Thanks for your time and help.
