Root Possible dumb question...

I want to root basically just to remove some system apps and maybe switch to the vanilla lock screen, but i want to keep original OTA2.1, dont want a custom rom or anything.

my question is, during the rooting process, do i just stop at step 3?

another question thats the same question.

my girlfriend has an eris and she wants me to try and change her font, but she INSISTS that i keep her ota2.1. again, do i stop at step 3 then i have root access? or what?

Which fonts?

If it's message fonts, a third party app such as Chomp or Handcent can include font packs.

I think he's talking about system fonts. T2noob posted a batch file to change the fonts for the entire phone. pretty slick

if you're rooting please do all the steps. There isn't really an option to skip anything. Once you hit the end of the first post, then you can proceed with whatever you hoped to accomplish with root by flashing the plain jane rom, and installing this batch file.

BTW to anyone using this batch. If you flash another rom you will have to reflash your fonts. My advice to all you crackhead flashers out there (lol I know believe me...) Flash a rom, set EVERYTHING up to your liking, then do a nandroid backup. If you want to try another do the same thing. Then if you want to easily compare the two roms, you can just flash your backups without have to go thru the set up process all over again.
