Possible other keyboard that doesn't drain battery

I downloaded the SwiftKey 3 Beta and so far it has not been draining my battery like crazy. It still shows up in the battery use list, but it is only at 2%. I like it a lot more than the Gingerbread one.

Yeah I noticed that the keyboard is always the one using the most battery. Strange as I didn't realize keyboards needed that much power. I don't remember that being the case with any of my previous phones. Thanks I will give this a try.

Edit — i couldn't find the beta 3 but downloaded the x trial. Looks pretty cool with the neon keyboard.

yeah the gingerbread one was nice for the non-battery drain but no ".com" key = fail.

I don't think the keyboard is actually causing the battery drain. We had similar problems with the HTC Incredible 2 - something weird was listed in the battery usage and after rooting the phone with CM7 the actual drain was determined to be something else. What this means is I don't think this OS can accurately determine what is actually draining the battery. I loaded the keyboards everybody said to and my battery life never changed and neither did my wife's. Just my two cents.

Well it was installed on my original phone and at first it didn't use much power but that changed and it quickly grew to the largest user. Now that I got my replacement phone today I will give it a try again.
