Root Possible SD Card error

A few days ago I was trying to take a pic and I got an error saying there was no SD Card present. Weird, but whatev. I tried fixing permissions but after it got all the way to the end it said there was a problem running privileged commands. Ok, whatev again.

I didn't think about it again til yesterday when I tried to change my wallpaper, but there was apparently nothing in my gallery. Alright. Everything shows up when I mount the SD card to my pc. Maybe it's the ROM. Well, there's a new ROM I wanted to try (Sourcery) so I prepare to flash that today. Backup all my apps with TiBu, which does read how much space is on my SD. I flash, my apps go to sync up, but none of them DL. After a few diff tries and presumed fixes, I go to the IRC channel for Sourcery and talk with the Dev. He's trying his best to help, but no one else has reported this issue. We can't figure anything out.

I figure I could at least nandroid back to a ROM where everything worked. I go back a few, restore one, and low and behold, same prob with the Market. The Dev asks if there's a prob with my SD card. Well, I didn't think there was, but I guess there is.

So basically I'm backing up my card so I can reformat it. I'm hoping it works. But does anyone else have anything they can add? Suggestions? Things I possibly (and most likely) did wrong? I'll post back to let you'se know how everything goes.

I had some weirdness before as well - I think my new policy is to tell everyone that gets a new phone to remove the micro SDCard while the phone is on its first charge and to format it - using a full format, not a quick format - a couple of times to make sure that everything is hunky dory with it.

That's probably sound advice JG. Formatting my SD card worked, but I guess the issue with the card prevented some of my files from transferring over to my save point. Lost a lot of information. Not too big a deal, I had backups to my backups, but most of it wasn't as up to date. Small hassle, but if any lesson is to be learned, it's backup, backup, backup.

True dat. That was the one point emphasised more than any when I first learned this process, and it's certainly proven to be the most important. Hope everyone is doing that, cause ya just never know. Those SD card issues come out of nowhere.
