Root Possible to migrate apps?

Slates

Newbie
I think I already know the answer to this one, but figured it was worth a shot.

I recently acquired a DInc off craigslist and am setting it up now. I found that one app I have on my Eris isn't on the market anymore (but works perfectly on the Eris). This of course happens to be my most used app, a traffic monitor for Houston. I tried searching on the market, using a QR code, etc but no dice. Is there any way that I can move this app to my DInc? (it is a free app BTW, I am not trying to scam a developer or anything like that).

I am assuming the answer is no, as then I could move any app, and that would be akin to stealing. I am just desperate.. I use this app every day before I drive home from work!

BTW, this is the app I am referring to:
Houston Traffic - Free Application for Android

It is gone from the market.. and there is not a similar app out there.. ugh.

Slates,

Don't know if you know about this, but there's an app I use (all the time) called IP Cam Viewer and it works great on the Eris and the Droid X. There's a paid version ($10) and an ad-supported free version and it supports a mind-blowing extensive set of traffic cameras--I would be VERY surprised if Houston's cameras are not support--and if they are not, just email the developer (Robert Chou) and have him add them. He publishes updates almost every week with tweaks, updates, new features, support for new cameras, and for new traffic camera cities (all over the world).

Check it out.

Cheers!

Thanks, I actually use that as well. What I use the Houston Traffic app for though is the actual traffic view that you can see at:
Houston TranStar Real-Time Traffic Map

The app puts this into a friendly mobile version.. the cams are ok, but I like to know the posted speeds, incidents, etc.

I think I may have found the developer (oddly enough have a 2nd connection to him on LinkedIn) so hopefully I can get the apk from him!

This should work.
In Astro go to menu > tools > application manager/backup.
Make a backup of the app in question.
Back out of the application manager area and use Astro to browse to sdcard > backups > apps.
Long press on the app, select send, email it to your gmail account.

Save it from GMail on the new phone and use Astro to install the apk file.
You MAY have to save the file into the 'backups' folder on the new phone and restore the backup using Astro, but I think it will install just fine without that step.

Great, thanks for the idea, I will give that a shot!

In other news, I got a response from the dev:

" I just went into Android market account and indeed all my apps were unpublished because screenshots of the apps are now required. I am at work now and don't have access to my dev environment. I will try to get this fixed either tonight or tomorrow night. And thank you for support on my Houston Traffic app. "

I love Android, great developers.

Wow, quick, and positive, response from the Dev.
If I needed a Houston traffic cam I'd use his, but since I'm in Jacksonville Florida I don't think it will do me much good. :)
