Root Possible to turn S-off without computer?

So a few months ago the USB port on my Evo fell out. I have a spare battery with charger so luckily I can still use it. I'm currently rooted, but with S-on. Is it possible to turn s-off without plugging it in?

moved you to the rooting section

well you are not completely rooted as you have s-on. so not sure how that was accomplished. and to get s-off you will need a computer unfortunately.

I also rooted my phone without turning s-off, and I'm running a cm7 rom, now I want to change my splash screen but I'm figuring out the only way to do it is with s-off..is this true? if not then does anyone know a better method? and if not then if I go forward with turning s-off, what is the best way to do it and will it change anything with my rom? that's my concern. much thanks!

If you are not s off you cannot flash anything through the bootloader. Therefore you can't change splash screens using the pc36ing method

what's the other method(s) and where can I find them if any? or what's the best s-off method after a custom rom has been flashed?

it will depend on how the file is compiled. most are PC36IMG files, however. but there are some that you can use via adb commands. you will have to do some research, but here are some that might work:[Collection] Custom Boot Animations and Splash Screens - xda-developers

just follow the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html. you can try either captain throwback's method or taco root method.

if you have partial root, can you grant apps superuser permissions? if so, shouldn't he be able to use wireless adb to achieve s-off?

I have heard of 1-click rooting apps that you can get from the Market, but none come to mind that work with any versions of our Evo. But maybe someone has developed one that can root the Evo in one click without a computer. I think that would be your only way of being able to accomplish such a task

I don't believe any of them work for The EVO.

All current root methods require a working usb port and computer
