i rooted my cousins hero and he installed rom manager and tryed to flash a rom through rom manager. now it wont boot and can t get into recovery either. im attempting to walk him through all this through IM so i dont know for sure whats going on. I rooted mine a long time ago and have flashed tons of roms with no issues whatsoever, so im not sure what to do next. and im not familiar with clockwork recovery. i have always held down vol down and power to boot into recovery, but that doesnt work for him. the rooting went fine, but when he flashed the rom (csrom) everything went to crap. any ideas?

Did you flash clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.1? If you successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery, you should have no troubles getting to recovery and flashing the rom

OP - IIRC, the Hero uses the home key + the power key to boot into recovery... not sure if that is just Among RA or clockwork too.

However, if that doesn't work and it doesn't boot as you have already mentioned, I think you'll have to go the RUU route.

Nope most of us need the Volume and End key, then when prompted the Home button to get into recovery, we had a long discussion about this in some of the thread over @ XDA weird but thus is the case.

Haha! I remember stumbling on that thread in my travels through XDA. :D

It had the bonus effect of drilling the right button combination into my brain. That is always a good thing! :)

Of course... it would be too easy if both recoveries used the same button combo. :p
