Post-Root / Missing System App question

Lurker
I've been searching for the past 3-4 hours but I haven't come up with a solution so I am hoping someone here can help.

I recently rooted my optimus S (i verified it was successful) and installed Titanium Backup. To make sure TB was working I performed a backup and then removed MagicSmokeWallpapers app, Upon restore TB hung. I connected the phone to a PC and the backup file was 1KB so I'm pretty sure the backup didn't work for whatever reason.

What I'd like to do is get the stock apps back on the phone and do a nandroid backup or something (suggestions welcome here). The problem is I can't find the two apps I need (MagicSmokeWallpapers and Protips (Home Screen Tips 1.0), the ones I can find are for a previous version and wont install (I'm running 2.2.2). I also have the LS670ZVD_12.SD_12.P60675.cab file and i was hoping to extract the apk files but no luck there either.

Any ideas?

We just got my wife the optimus. Came in yesterday. :D

Ok so with your issue. Have you downloaded other ROMS for the Optimus? ROMS that are built from the stock should have these files in them that you can extract. A Nandroid should also be the first thing you do before doing anything to the phone, Of course at this point that is more of a future reference.

I am not planning on rooting the wifes phone however i will learn how to do it. I have my EVO rooted and love it.

Thanks. The .apks for the apps I referenced in the original post did end up working. They were older 2.2.1 or 2.2 but it just took a couple reboots for the apps to show up after clearing the cache. I think the last thing I did before I got it to work was delete the odex file for one of the apks in the "bin/apps" folder on the phone (had a backup on my SD card).

Once I got the stock apps back i reset to factory defaults, rooted, and took a nandroid backup.
