I like sweeterhome a lot, but the only thing holding me back from using it is that you can scroll when there is a widget in the way, you can only scroll on a blank space on the desktop, that is kind of an issue with me. If they fix this I will definitely start to use it more.
 
Another issue just popped up. I can't save my theme. :eek: I'm getting an "Error Writing Theme" error when I try saving to me sdcard. :confused:


UPDATE: Seems fine now. I dunno... :~/

Ok, I'm starting to get the hang of it, but man, it's going to take a LOOONG time, I can already tell.

My wife already thinks I spend too much time on it. Guess I'll have to do it at work, lol

I don't like the fact that I can't save it to the sd card, though. That sucks marbles.

That was one of the very few things I liked about HTC sense on the Eris, that you could save themes.

No, you can save to sdcard. I just happen to be having an issue right now getting an error.

Menu > Edit Theme > Menu > Upload/Export > change "Internet" to "SD Card".

-So, I love the recent SMS block... Any way to get that to display gtalk convo's? Or a gtalk recent conversation widget would work too, just haven't been able to find one.
 
I just created my most minimalist theme yet. It has six springboards on the homepage, accessing:

Apps - Frequntly used apps
Msgs - SweeterHome's recent SMS list
Calls - SweeterHome's recent call list and contact list, split screen
Direct - Direct dials to my favorite contacts
Music - Pandora widget, MotoTorch widget, Power widget, BatteryViz widget, plus room for one more full banner widget, such as Slacker or Listen.
Cal - Pure Calendar widget

I only use one other screen, to the left, where I have a scrollable list of all apps.

Joe, I'm having the same issue with beautiful home. I read your fix and I'm wondering if you've found another more permanent fix. My home page. Time is off by at least 15 minutes as well as temp.

Holmgren: How do you get more than one screen?

Joe: Well I was working on sublime in between work and left it as it is meaning everything is working fine and during a break looked at the phone, found it was shutting off due to battery.. Went back to office to charge, and looked at beautiful home.. now any of widgets like home, handcent sms are not getting updated unless I go to edit themes.. wierd :(

How's this for minimalist? lol

Com = (communications) - phone, email, messaging, browser

Office = office docs, pdf viewer, notepad, etc.

App = pretty much everything else


Now, bear in mind, this is my very first try. I wanted something to go with the solid black & gold accents of the phone. I'll probably keep it a day or two, lol


A QUESTION, though:

The stock icons SUCK. I have bettercut. Is there anyway I can put customized icons in the tagged trays?? Anyway at all? :confused:

Yes. someone I think Corniacake (sp?) mentioned how you can.. I am sorry you have to look for it :( if i knew it off hand I would have mentioned it

Can you pm me the link to your wallpaper?

need to find a way to have diff wallpaper in diff screens..

Nah, not in Tag Trays at this stage. There are plans for a total icon replacement solution, but that might be a way off.
 
hey joe i see you alot around on this friend ( not stalking haha) but im interested to see your design with your homescreens! post the shots and press upload people:D
 
My first actual attempt at Sweeter Home Preview 2. This is just the first desktop out of 5. This home-replacement app sure does make good use of each screen. To think, I have 4 more screens to play with. :eek:

NOTE: My Beautiful Home widget is keeping time ... finally! I experimented with the "layer level" that the widget resides on, and that seems to be the key. If the widget has anything over top of it at a higher layer level, it seems to break it. :( I had to redesign this desktop several times to make it work. So far, so good. I'll report back tomorrow morning.


Almost forgot the coolest one. ;)

ok maybe i'm just slow and everyone knows this but OMG OMG OMG!!! i just discovered you can get a theme and copy certain pages/aspects of it then go back to yur own theme and paste merge that page/aspect into yurs!! i now have a "mutt" theme and i luv it!! it's like the best of everyone's all crammed into one lol

nothing special. beautiful widgets at the top...springboards and taskiller widget...and the bottom 5 are bettercut shortcuts, in a custom tray, to phone/chompSMS/dolphin/gmail/market..

i cant wait for a fully stable release version to hit the market...sh2 really is awesome. i think home++ is gonna be takin a little break for now..but man i miss hidin the taskbar and havin the ! to hit at the bottom..
