Post the latest Note 20 rumors here

At any rate, rumors are flying that the final design of the Note 20 line will feature a flatter, but not totally flat, screen. Looks like Sammy is scaling back from the novelty of curved-edge displays.

Now, SAMSUNG, let's talk about that camera hole you insist on drilling in the screen...

Where would you like the front camera to be?

Right where it's always been: in the top bezel, alongside the earpiece and sensors. Why Samsung thinks smartphone owners hate that top bezel is beyond me. I understand that the curved edges (ie Infinity Display) are on the way out and the Note 20 will be much flatter. But with a black notification bar along the top of the display, most people go through their day not even noticing the top bezel. It's certainly less intrusive than the glaring hole in the screen I was assured I'd get used to. I haven't and likely won't.

Agreed. Though I'd be happy with behind the screen if screen quality doesn't suffer (I don't personally care about front camera quality, though I understand that some people do).

You can set your notification bar to always be black though and then not notice the camera. You can also set apps to always show the notification bar and all is good. It's almost like the olden days but with one less row.

That work around doesn't work when using a full screen app or in landscape mode. And actually I prefer to hide my notification bar in my launcher. So to me a punch hole is still worse than a top bezel.

When I'm in landscape mode and watching a full-screen video or movie, that hole in the screen doesn't blend in anywhere. It stands out like a sore thumb - it's literally a black hole... its visual gravity draws you in and there's no escape from it.

Now the Note 20 looks more & more like it will have another hole in the screen. Unless it has astonishing features to make it stand out from the Note 10, it's another loser for Samsung.

Note 20 news:

Looks like the S20 Ultra's 100X "Space Zoom" camera was a complete flop: image processing and focusing with that thing is apparently a wretched task. The Note 20 is rumored to sport 8X zoom and the Note 20 Ultra a 50X zoom. The laser focusing system should help with faster image processing. Meanwhile, the rest of the specs are looking more and more like the Note 20 is an incremental update to the Note 10 - which was an incremental update to the Note 9. Which was the same thing for the Note 8. And it still has a hole in the screen.

In other words, I'm starting to see very poor sales numbers coming up for Samsung...

Price will determine a lot as well I think, Samsung went completely mad with the S20 Ultra 512gb, it was nearly 1600 Euro here in Ireland if you could even find a 512gb one.

I was embarrased myself in paying the grand price point of the 10+ and only justified it in the fact that my total Samsung phone cost over the last 7 years has been -£110 due to fluke good luck. (Note4 for £40 and Note8 for free + £150 apology voucher for S-Pen replacement confusion)

It's going to take several years before I will pay that again, let alone that and a half more.

Well, I got a heck of a deal with the Note 10+ - Microsoft sold them at a stupid low price right after Black Friday. My sale of the Note 9 offset that greatly. But I'm (mostly) happy with the Note 10+, other than a few things like the brainless fingerprint scanner. But unless the Note 20 Ultra wows me enough to trade this one in, I'm passing on it.

Only a month and a week now before we will know everything
I'm actually starting to get curious about now.
I've been eligible for an upgrade through my provider/carrier since November that I haven't used so I should be able to get it for less than half price if I decide to get one, then selling my Note 10 plus 5G will subsidise that price as well

Yep - I ordered the Notes 8 and 9, unlocked, from Samsung directly because of the great trade-in allowance. But returning a phone to Samsung is such a PAIN that I found getting it from Samsung's Amazon store is much easier if I choose to return the phone. And yes - I either sell my phones on eBay or Swappa, getting a pretty good price for them. I've learned to NEVER buy from my provider (Verizon) - because of their delays in pushing out updates and their insistence on Samsung dumbing down certain features of the phone. Apparently they think their customers aren't smart enough to figure out their phones.

And I'm curious, too - but unless Samsung is keeping a lot of features secret and the Note 20 Ultra absolutely blows me away (like the 9 did over the 8), I'll keep Jeanette (yes, I name my phones) and pass on this year.

Here it's ok to buy through the carrier as we get them unlocked, often though you can find a better price from Amazon sellers and it doesn't affect the 24 month European warranty, you lose out on anything promotional but it is usually sh1te anyway, trade in values are a joke as well so selling private is the way to go.

Looking like the 120Hz refresh rate will not be available at QHD+ resolution... only FHD+

As a consolation, though, the US and China models are expected to be packing the Snapdragon 865+

Three weeks to go!

I'm fairly sure the new Exynos will be quite good, the humiliation in their own offices in their home country wouldn't have been taken lightly, 5 or 6nm..it'll be alright I think.

Yep, and I understand that foundries are already ramping up production of the SOC for the S21 and Note 21 (or whatever next year's phones will be named) based on a 3nm process!

Except it's not been an exception that the Exynos was inferior this year: it's been the lesser option for several years in a row now.

As for next year, I've read every rumour from "they will drop the Exynos SoC from the Galaxy S range" to "all Galaxy S models will be Exynos in 2021" (which would be one way of preventing people doing comparisons). My guess is that these stories are better described as "speculation" than "leaks".

I am OVER the AKG N60 headphones that came with the Note 9... time to sell those and the Gear IconX that Samsung left us all stuck with! I'm curious now, whether Samsung will bundle the new Gear Buds Pro (or whatever the new jellybean things will be called) with the Note 20 Ultra. My only beef is that none of the fitness tracking the buds do gets reported to Google Fit (which I use)... it's proprietary to Samsung Health (which I don't use). Ah well, if they work well...
